Allow me to take the time and rip his argument apart by debunking every point he made.
I would send this to him, but I wouldn't be able to see him cry and face it, where's the fun if I can't see his cry.
6. Settlement System- So even the guy said that this feature didn't work as well as it could. Not only that but it's a system that simply doesn't work. I said if this system was saved for a settlement or two, it might work in context of the story, but what we get is a World that hasn't fully developed and where the only place that has any personality is Diamond City. Where are the inner politics and conflicts like we had in previous games? It's passed because Bethesda didn't want to write a story, but instead make a game. Which is a shame really as previous Fallouts (even 3 to an extent) were about trying to tell a story with the medium of game.
5. Weapon and Armour Customisation- Maybe I'm just nitpicking here, but while I do think this system does work well in the Fallout games, it seems rather unlikely that one guy would be able to create all that shit. Yeah there were mods in New Vegas, but they were rather basic and was focused more on repairing your weapon than turning it into something new. Also, this could be expanded upon in later games by creating small factories and joining the arms race, being in conflict with groups like Gun Runners (but not the gun runners as such) and trading with towns or even raiders.
4. Okay, I'm going to be frank here and say that a story premise is useless if the story isn't actually explored.
Yes, there was a lot of potential to make a great story in Fallout 4, and yes, the whole idea of it does sound better than one such as New Vegas, but here's the problem, New Vegas took its time to develop its story, it made you care and think about how our actions could affect the rest of the Wasteland. It allowed us to meet people, not characters, but people with their own problems and way of life.
Simply put, New Vegas was a World that had a story to tell and all the little stories helped build-up to one big payoff.
Fallout 4 doesn't explore its themes nearly as much as it could have. For starters, basing it on androids was a huge mistake, I've said it before, but if it was about Cyborgs, it would have been a lot more interesting to play. We could have had a discussion about how man changes man for the greater good. Maybe have a character with similar goals to that of the Master, but instead of his plan being flawed, his plan is flawless and we have to stop someone who essentially wants to cause genocide to allow another race of human to live.
While it would be treading on themes of the first game, it could have been a response to it and we get an answer to the Master's flawed plan.
3. Art Design is sujective, I love the design of Fallout 1&2 personally. Also graphics can only make a game look good, it can't make it good. That's not to say that some games are unplayable due to how dated they have become. Graphics shouldn't be the focus.
I understand there will come a time when I have a child who wouldn't go anywhere near New Vegas for how bad it looks, and that upsets me. At the same time, they won't touch F4 so I'll be pretty proud of that kid.
2. Combat- Okay, so the Fallout games were never about combat, they were about allowing you to have your own play style and just roll with that. While the combat is a much needed improvement over 3 and New Vegas, it still doesn't make the game for me. All it does is make F4 a shit game with decent shooting mechanics.
1. Console Mods- ahahahahahahahahahahahahahah.
Oh he was serious?
Well, I could explain why Console Mods is a bad idea for Fallout 4, but I'll just leave it at the fact that Bethesda are even able to have a steady framerate for DLC, never mind the fact that they want mods on console.
Also, the last DLC is coming out and there's still no mod support for PS4, that's kinda shitty tbh.
