You know how it feels to have a relative that believes the Earth is flat? It's not good, I can say that...

At least you know to not trust their judgement.

The worst thing about this is that relative took care of me throughout my childhood. That same relative had a multitude of degrees, one of them being in the study of science.
People with this "not as good/bad as we/you remember it being" mentality should just piss off. Opinions aren't based solely on memory.

You're on the wrong site to be throwing this around.

If *this* is the wrong site to vent on such a stupid dismissal, I'd hate to see what the rest of Internet would think if I called it out anywhere else. It's almost as awful as needlessly throwing the "nostalgia" card. It's gets pretty aggravating having articles tell people that "this isn't as good as you remember it being" or some other BS like that; as if they're the arbiter of what and what isn't a valid opinion.
It really annoys me when people (especially gamers) confuse remasters, remakes, and reboots as being the same thing.

@5545Trey What I mean't is that they're "similar" in that they both improve the graphics (yes I know that's a very narrow-minded view) which is what makes people think they're the same.

Most remasters don't improve graphics. They just output the same graphics in higher definition. So it still doesn't make sense.

@Big No I still find that hard to swallow. I think a better comparison would be a remake and a *reboot*, because both make significant changes to the game for easier accessibility for modern gamers.
I don't understand why Fallout: New Vegas isn't on Xbox's Game Pass. Bethesda owns all three of 3-D Fallout games, so what's the issue?

That it's NV and made by Obsidian. Beth seemingly hates them both nowadays, and backs it up with "WELL IT DIDN'T SELL AS MUCH AS 3 AND 4 SO NAH"

Cuz Bethesda hates New Vegas. Until they run out of ideas and steal from both New Vegas and its modding community.
So... the Elder Scrolls is 25 years old, today. Ah, Hell, I might just give the first game another shot. *MIGHT.*

That's highly debatable. Daggerfall is much more expansive and has more things to do. A few gameplay aspects have been tweaked, too. However, Beth's design philosophy was: "Let's see how big we can make the game" without fleshing any out of it. Throughout the years, I thought Daggerfall was worse in some aspects. I'll get back to it evenutally, but right now, I just want to beat Arena first.

    Understandable.

Yesterday was supposed to be a one-hour session, but it turned into several hours. I guess the game is a bit more addicting than I remember. I do enjoy the sense of dread and claustrophobia present in the first two games, especially Arena.
I wondering if I should ever do an aggressive rant about the so-called "nostalgia" argument. Just to get things off my chest.
