VATS isnt useless by a long shot, its god mode on using a fatman on pointblank wont kill you or scratch you at the very least, you step on a landmine enter vats and shoot dogmeat and the mine wont damage you xD. Seriously this game isnt that bad (and with that bad i mean zero original fallout...
