Actually, from all I`ve seen, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is much closer to Strugatsky bros novel than Tarkovsky`s film. He may be in some kind of holy cow status in the geekdom, but he never cared for Strugatskys` novel, it was just a setting for him for three characters to exchange deep philosophical blabber.

Well, GSC is quite a biggie developer in that region, its not like STALKER is their only project. Of course, its hard to tell how much dough one has, but I`d guess that their Cossacks series are pretty good earners.

Err..pretty hard? :) They have some ambitious goals and personally I appreaciate it. A living ecosystem with dynamic factions, it sure is much harder a goal than slapping together 20-something SP levels as most games do these days. The only mistake they have done is announcing the game too...
