I assume you're talking about the oil pump as the third mission? Let's just say you want to take out the BoS as fast as possible and bring as many traps as you can carry. Also rockets will help out a lot since the scavanged helicopter's minigun doesn't seem to function...
The miniguns have an inventory (hit I and put the ammo on the guy running the miniguns). You should be able to take them all out without running out of minigun ammo.
Pfft, if I didn't, then my guys would end up dying horribly. Granted if I -could- play Fallout 3, it wouldn't be turn based.

I'm in the process of (very slowly) beating the Cannon level. Wearing the Enclave armor, still can't use the mortar. Also, is it possible to have an auto check similar to the one for pilot for gunner positions? Jane ended up holding the minigun in the vehicle and it cost me a turn...
