Just this project I'm on and off with. Its really just ideas and concepts right now, but I have a pretty good idea of what I want it to be. I don't know what to really label it as, worldbuilding maybe? I find it easier to build off the idea bubbles if I visualize them. So I have to put it to paper to commit it to memory.
This sounds geeky af, probably because it is, but I start my worldbuilding generally with my D&D characters; every time I make a different one with a unique alignment, skillset, appearance, etc. I flesh them out and use them to populate the short stories and such I write; obviously I don't use actual D&D spells and shit because that's plagiarism but like the characters themselves make a good jumping-off point.
All I really have with it now is Earth teleporting itself into another planet of Not-Elves. The idea is a response toFantasy worlds filled with several different sapient species that are even able to properly co-exist all because the non-humans are allegory for foreign cultures.
The 'Earth' is made up of different points in history. Though, I'd rather not get too far or else you'd have every non-human getting turned into paste by a fucking minigun. So I'd say as far as I'm really willing to go is early 20th century.
