okay so at the end they try to play off like Dante and Vergil are sealing themselves in the demon world but they did the same thing with Dante at the end of DMC 2

And he's just back in 5 with no explanation so it's obviously no permanent or impossible to retu. Also no mention of Lucia or anything from dmc2

I mean this game referenced the anime and all the light novels and blah blah but refused to touch dmc2 to the point where it has actually caused continuity issues.

Or maybe I'm overanalyzing and the whole point of Dante going too was "to keep an eye on Vergil" precisely because it's possible to return.

Iirc, it is implied at the end of DMC 2 that Dante returns. As for Lucia, I'm expecting her to show up in a Lady/Trish dlc.
