Little creativity? Better create one than overuse them?

I concur. I hold no strong opinions about them or their placements near periods.

Yes, eissa, but how would you write a story without any tropes? Even the good ones, the complex storylines with debth, still make use of tropes. I just can't see a way, where you could do without them.

I mean, if I can jump in to this debate, while it is possible to create some new tropes and ideas, some are so deeply ingrained in our cultures and collective consciousness that doing away with them would be difficult, to say the least.

In other news/shameless plug, I'm currently writing a book that seeks to undo the stereotype of the "other", or barbarian, and humanize them. It contributes nothing to the conversation besides a weak attachment to the idea of undoing tropes, I just thought it'd be nice to share lol.

*GASP!* It's almost as if tropes are neither good nor bad but merely tools, which you have to apply correctly and wisely!
