Carlin is not overrated but Burr is. Carlin was just copied all to hell so his material is now dated.

Carlin was subversive at the time bro. When we saw his special on HBO in the 90's it was on fire. Really topical. Made me think as a young fuck.

Now you have one thousand clones of him on Youtube.

It's just everywhere I go or everything I watch I hear about Carlin, so I look up his shit and its the same shit I've been hearing, Offensive.... but not. Maybe if I was exposed to him earlier I would like him more but it is what it is.

That is all it is man. Back in the 90's he was the only one saying that shit aside from maybe Hicks. Now all these clowns are suddenly like him.

Carlin was doing his material back in the 60s. Took decades for these younger fucks to start copying him. He's an original. Don't even know who Bill Burr is.

My favorite material from "subversive characters" is always their most inoquous stuff. My fav Carlin stuff is his early linguistic musings, "stuff" and his breakdown of time-words, "soooooon!"

Same with Bill Hicks (the OG black turtleneck hates-the-world guy!) - my fav bits are his early stuff about family vacations and haircuts.
