I know what you mean but at least with the Prequels there was some kind of planning and plot outline to them while the Sequels, Disney did admit this, had no real plot outline and they just winged it the whole way through.
On paper, the Prequels should be better, but then you realise that Lucas didn't get why People liked Star Wars. The sequels knew and actually did some interesting things. I'm not a lover of the sequels, thinking the force awakens is okay but is ruined by rise of Skywalker and that the last Jedi is a mixed bag of being both a great and terrible movie.
Revenge is the strongest of the 3 and actually has a decent first act, but then it turns into a shoddy movie, to the point I ended up liking it the least of the 3
With the Prequels, if Lucas had less Yes Men and more people to question him and rein in his ideas then the movies would have been good. The Sequels on the other hand, well that is another story. Lets just say that Disney is a creatively bankrupt company who are more concern with pleasing China then telling a good story.
Lucas either needed less yes men or less People telling him it's his story.
And yeah, I think the story the sequels were setting up was actually pretty good, after Last Jedi, I wanted to see what happened next. But rise was... Bad.
I didn't like how Disney treated their Black actors. Especially for the Chinese posters and release. John Boyega even talks about how Disney went out of their way to cut screen time for whenever the Black actors were on screen and shrink them down for the Chinese posters as China does not like Black people. It's both sleazy and racist but I guess anything to get that sweet communist Chinese gold.
China isn't communist.
Regardless, I agree, I feel Rose got done dirty too, I didn't like her in TLJ, but there was no reason she shouldn't be reduced in Rise. Just improve her as a character
Oh, don't get me wrong. China is a farce of a communist country. They are probably more closer to Nazi Germany then anything else. However, you are right with Rose and everything else with Rise. The original script for Rise was actually not bad, however, Carrie Fisher died which kind of threw things out of the window.
The last Jedi set Kylo as the major threat for the third movie, and that third movie had one job, don't redeem Kylo. And it did, and it brought back Palpatine which undoes all the series.
At least it was a little bit more coherent then what we got. Carrie Fisher dying really kind of threw things out the window for them. Both scripts called for her to be alive and they should of just killed her off in Last Jedi.
Bringing back Palpatine was the worst decision that they made. They should have just have Kylo be the villain instead of doing that as it, as you said, undoes the entire series.
