Fallout 4 power armor mechanic make it really strong at the cost of quirks that make each power armor series stand unique. For example there is nice little detail why T-45d give you more strength but penalty to agility
Because it got less finer motor and require the operator to have special underarmor suit (recon armor), which is actually have fine connection to each joints.
And T-51 apprently have unlimited power battery and ballistic ceramic for better heat and energy protection. Enclave power armor have that nice enviromental suit vibe with possibly microclimate underneath the suit. And recycle your waste.
I feel like if they had made the armors tanky but lore friendlier it would’ve actually been a more interesting mechanic. Besides, have you seen the Fallout 4 power armor mashups you can make?
I only felt it when playing with Fallout PnP and spend stupid debate over it. Its kind of situation that one game basically make every mechanic go weird when translated into PNP. Because the author insist on incorporating Fallout 4 just because.
Ouch. Sounds like you need a better PnP group. I know @Paladin Hank plays, and so does @Atomic Postman; I’m currently making my own PnP ruleset and I know Postman has one already. New Discord PnP group? Maybe!
Even when Bethesda has a good idea they have to fuck it up somehow. Also why is Power Armor the only thing with a condition meter? I guess to balance how you get a full suit on the first mission, but somehow I think a better solution would've to be to not make Power armor so easy to get...
@KingArthur its an another Pauldron fest all over again with Fallout 4 power armors. Only Enclave power armor that actually feel like proper protection with the pauldron being more about covering the exposed joints instead of piece of attachment for the shoulder to make them bigger than they are. In way, like the real medieval armor.
Fallout 3 and 4 enclave armor feel like they beg someone to target the bottom bowl of such ridiculous wide neck design with anti material rifle. You can firmly say that there is no exposed part from the original fallout 2 Enclave power armor.
Oh damn. I guess I thought that was just you spitballing a campaign and not a system. Also wow that is a very outdated version of my PnP, weird how much has changed
Power Armors are like Medabots. I wish we got a Fallout spinoff where a kid with Spiky hair goes around collecting Power armors and cores to become the #1 Powerfighter.
@Atomic Postman yeah, I’m still hashing out a system. I’m also toying with the idea of using what I have so far with a Warhammer Quest-style game, but one thing at a time.
