The answer to that question is "No".

I am skeptical of the idea of "walking tank", maybe for later Enclave PA for sure. T-45 should be closer to man sized "gun carriage". Armor is not that much great but the weapons and the speed they carry are devastating. T-51 probably have better resistance against energy weapons but still screwed by 7.62x51 or above.

I think the best PA design would be something slimmer than the 4 designs. No frame, just the suit and the fingers aren't as massively clunky.

But T-51b was always walking tank material....

That said screw picking locks on a rusty door in Power Armor, you should just walk right through the mother fucker.

@TheGM If i remember correctly, in Fallout 1 it is said Power Armor (T-51) are capable of resist up to 2500 joules of kinetic impact. Not very impressive, considering .308 is more than 3500 J and the PA are way bulkier than most Type III ballistic vest.

The most advanced armor ever created and a simple 50 cal would take it out.

the line is over 2500 joules. so that can be anywhere from to 2501 to Infinity and beyond. get rekt nerd.

@TorontoReign There are no small arms that fire 50 cal, but plenty that shoot .308/7.62 including your basic hunting rifle. Heaviest ballistic vest can resist Magnum version of that and you tell me an exoskeleton that logically should have carrying more weight than strongest man can isn't? Seems PA are more like glass canon just as described.

The point is if your walking tank succumbs to 50 cal rounds it isn't a fuckin tank. Any fixed position with a machine gun would be able to take one out.

We can see in-game that it's not to infinity. A Hunting rifle can still deal 1 to 3 damage against a T-51 PA.
The maximum damage of a hunting rifle is 20, so the T-51 can still take 15% of damage from a Hunting Rifle.
Since a .308 has around 3.700 joules of force, that's 148% of 2500.

Since the Hunting Rifle can still deal 15% of it's max damage, that means that a T-51 PA in-game can resist around 3.145 joules (which is 85% of 3.700). Still not even close to a tank.
