Like, do people genuinely believe that orgs like Taliban or idunno, some Syrian militia, are capable of conquering, dismantling and destroying the US, all by themselves? Like - how do people still think these wars are defensive in any way?
Worst is, I doubt people even rationalize it as far as that. If I ask my own mother why wars are fought, why, what for, she doesn't really know, she never checked "well, saddam had the bombs of mass destruction and the Taliban oppress women - or something!"

This is a somewhat sexist thing to say but most women I know do not understand war.
My girlfriend does, but she is aspie, and teeters on brutal depression, solely derived from understanding the world while being aspie.
I admit I am there too, balanced between hopelessly zen, and just hopeless...
I force my human option to pretend this is all fine, while hiding away in my fiction.
On the other end, my dad - aspie and hopelessly realistic as me, tends to keep the nuanced horrors of the world to himself, whenever I'm visiting, he very clearly wants to shield his wife from it, my stepmother She's not dumb either, but she's a hopeful person. She votes. She thinks democracy can make things better.
