The fact that people keep using *this* space to post private messages - sometimes clearly more private than others. The wording I think is what throws people off - "start a conversation" - just re-brand it "Private message" and re-brand *this* space "shout box" or something

That's my point - people DO use this as PM all the time, don't you notice? At the very least, I suspect often people _meant_ to use this as PM, especially by how many of the messages are worded - they are often of a private nature. When everybody uses a design wrong, then the design is wrong!

Yeah but it's not PRIVATE don't ya ken? The design is fine what is wrong is hardly anybody posts on this dead ass website aside from the same twenty or so dudes. The places they do post are the same threads that do not contribute to activity like shitposting. It's being used as intended.

Korin added a shoutbox when it first started. That would straight up kill this site so no it ain't gonna happen ever.

If people want to go shout they should use that dead worthless POS NMA steam chat or discord.

I don't care so much about shout box or not, as much as a clearly defined "Private Message" button, I believe the one we have now is "start a conversation with - " or something, and people instead opt for "Profile posts" - while then proceeding to divulge private matters.
I see that as a design flaw, one that has persisted for a while.
