No Mutants Allowed

They then got startled by a cat, but their buck-dad was right nearby, and didn't seem bothered by neither me nor the cat

I also watched a big slug *entirely consume* a smaller slug, with a long protruding tube-like mouth

And a fox running across the lawn with (most likely) someone's pet; looked like a rabbit. We don't have rabbits, we have hares, not nowhere near here.

And I also saw the badger again. Badger doesn't even notice me half the time.

Also, something ruined the pigeon-couple's nest in the tree. I had little hope for it, still sad tho.

I wonder if the moose got back to the woods allright.

(I hope nobody calls the cops on the baby deers -_- )

I don't think deer are getting murdered in your neck of the woods like they are ours.

You'd think so, but they are the rare time anybody *gets* to "officially" shoot guns here. It comes up now and then, newspaper stories of shocked neighbors and crying children :D They will show up and shoot badgers, foxes and yes, baby deers

The "executioners" are not cops per se, as I understand, but part of the same infrastructure. They show up in green camo fatigues, redneck mustaches, and arguments like "But we *have* to continue chasing the badger into the wild, in order to... restore some balance, or something. Nature!"

I will concede, that I bet deers *do* get randomly shot more often in the US than here though, I'm not gonna argue with you on the main merit there

Yeah I just feel like redneck culture permeates a large part of this country while you guys are likely a little more sportsman-like about it.

American inland is ridiculously huge, you travel any significant distance over here, you just approach some other capital - only really comparable sense of deep inland is when you get to Russia - you get that same sort of detatchment from the bustling world around - same insane redneck shit uploaded to youtube etc

I live all up in that shit.

I have to drive 90 miles/140km to see an actual city. Small towns don't count.

One weird thing you guys do is, if you got like 20 000 people in a place, you absolutely will put at least one highrise in the town center.
I genuinely wonder - are those buildings just property speculation? Are they empty? Do these 20 000 people have like 5 000 office jobs among them?

All I know is, I have to drive an hour and a half to see something like that.

But, to answer your question, I do think a lot of those buildings are built on speculation. After the Empire State Building was completed, it was frequently called the "Empty State Building." I understand that phenomenon occurs frequently.
