Like, at least die in a cataclysmic invasion of your homeland, your tit out, rifle in the air -

but like, those ripple-conflicts, once a civil war is over, disagreeing factions, minor clashes, minimal casualties - imagine being one of the 17 dead or some stupid shit, "cough, cough, tell my mother... i love her" and you died so that negotiations could be postponed 3 more days, or something lame.

I think, in these cases, that's where religion really shines - "cough, cough, don't worry about me and my quite frankly mind-blowing sacrifice - it's not like I just handed my ENTIRE LIFE over to some fleeting policy - no, I am entering The Kingdom of Heaven!!!"

I mean - they died in a losing cause, but it was a *huge* cause! They failed at the task of defending their land and their people, but *their land and people* is certainly a good cause to give yourself!

Like - you're a Russian soldier helping Bashar al Assad stay in power, because Putin needs a middle eastern ally.
"Cough, cough, tell my mother... "

I feel sorry for the Polish. They are the opposite of Americans. They were invaded, failed at defending their land, had to beg and force their way into alliances after the fact. Are still reviled to this day.
