Nope @Arnust , Shotel is still practical as infantry weapon. its chop, rather than a slashing weapon. think it as ancestor of kukri albeit more longer.

But, things like never knowing to trade and wearing armor are just silly. hell even a viking and hun were still trading and combat pragmatis

that's why i think game of throne and its novel is just overrated, GRRM should learn from tolkien at constructing rohirrim for example. its viking and horse rider in one but make sense

Yeah, i watch GOT mostly for the amount of production it has. The last season's battles and situations are in par to LOTR movies.
And Dothraki not having trade is dumb considering the whole Slaver's Bay business, it's nigh impossible for them to join or learn.
They may have no access to iron forging due to their nomacy, but they could have leather...

And yeah, shotel and that Arakh thingy look more different than i thought. The latter looks like it could get stuck in anything xD

Iron forging is easy, even hun could do it. its not about making steel anyway, which obviously involve a very difficult technique and technology such as high temperature kiln that nomad ussually not posses

You are right about leather, in fact a proper boiled leather could beat chain mail armor in term of resistant againts straight sword. i think GRRM want to make dothraki looks like pictish or teutonic tribe, but hey he could just make their signature weapon looks like falx

well duel or such is nothing compared in battlefield involving large army. If the battles is about killing an army commander/ banner raiser then that's it. you dont even need knight, just use armed peasant as crowd filler

but, in westeros we got a full plate armored knight. So, its just silly that you want a nomadic marauder role to be filled with the likes of dothraki.
