Getting the powers from the bite makes him a pussy who gets powers by accident, like a mary sue.

He's not really a super genius considering he invents the shooting method while not the subtance itself, and he doesn't invent them in a day, the movie even shows the process and him failing a bunch of times, with a time skip to go with it, even havign the webshooters explode on his face a few times. Which is pretty Spiderman.

The scenes your describing are supposed to be campy, are you familiar at all with Sam raimi sense of humor? Campyness is part of his style. At least raimi has a sense of style unlike the fucking generic bozo they got to direct the Garfield one
