I had no idea this game existed, and it has existed for 5 years?? How well does it function? I mean, does WW2 properly trigger once WW1 is completed? If it works as intended, it looks very intriguing

HOI2 is the only game I've ever modded. I tried to make the game I have always dreamed of: The modern world game, with modern countries playable. I managed to create every nation possible on the map, but lacked proper details for most of them. Then I screwed up the file somehow, somewhere, and ragequit...

It's a brilliant game but you do need a mod to continue the WW1 scenario to WW2, as it ends in 1921.
Colonialism... hmmm, yes and no. The good old days of slavery, red-coated soldiers killing hordes of black natives with a gatling gun are long gone but the British Empire still exists and the French control parts of Africa.
