I think you're confusing the notion of Jews and "Jews" here. People who are not of the Jewish race can convert to the Jewish religion, yes, but the word "Jew" is synonymous with the "semite" race. According to the Torah a person can not just "become" a jew. Being able to do that would negate the whole fucking point of Christianity allowing anyone to be saved and go to Heaven.
