Who told you about kjøttkake? I still don't know how to make them from scratch, but I should. I won't ever mature as a Norwegian, untill I master a good, chunky kjøttkake.
Every self respected German knows about Köttbullar, that's what they are called here.
*Edit, the fact that I got seriously in to cooking, kinda also helped a little. I've tried quite a lot of dishes by now. I have to get more in to baking though. That's where the real fun is! Right now, as I am typing I have a slow cooking Gulash on the cooker.
Köttbullar is the Swedish version though, they are typically more finely ground, smaller and rounder, while the Norwegian counterpart is preferably larger, more oval, and much more chunky. Often so chunky that it doesn't take much to break them apart with a fork
