I know the Deathclaw in Broken Hills was an absolute fucking joke as well, since by the time you encounter it, you're wielding power armor+some awesome weapon like Mega Power Fist, which is more than enough to one-shot it.

One shot the bitch. I guess I must be shit at fallout but I always seemed to get owned by death claws and raiders

At the caves (random encounters) near modoc, i was less than level 10, with Sulick and Vic, all in leather armors, with pistols and melee weapons, and we wiped scores of lesser deathclaws small and big (the big ones had like 50hp) without reloading once or even caring about new waves coming to help their bros.

I had none of those things by the time I encountered the broken hills deathclaw. also how come the air in there hurts me AND the supermutants but the ants and deathclaw are fine? also how in the hell do they mine with a goddamn deathclaw in there?

I also have no power armor by the time i reach Broken Hills. I usually get my first power armor at Mariposa, after i brought back the GECK and ended all the eastern plotlines.

scrub :^) anyhow I usually leave Broken Hills' main quest alone, I just move on to NCR which is straight south and grab the car upgrade, help NCR a bit, do the Vault 15 and New Reno quests and move on from there.

The deathclaw in Modoc is an off-screen badass, although. If you release him without killing him, he will kill everyone in northern Modoc. If you fight it, he has 200 hp, but doesn't use his action points. Let's pray for the next ones to be more challenging... (stilll far from the pure doomsday creatures of the previous episodes)
