Actually, all of history indicates that God favors those who follows Christ. Look around, nobody else enjoys freedom and the security enjoyed by those whose ancestors embraced Christ Jesus. And that favor extends to most everyone around them just by the reality of logistics.
If a society progresses towards better despite themselves, everyone in that society benefits irrespective whether or not they believe in the God helping His faithful. But it's not always that way. No, in fact as our free world nations progress away from Christ, we're seeing the beginnings of our own oppression, progressively devolving into what the rest of the world already is.
For fucks sakes... Imagine if god (assuming he's real) did show favoritism based on religion. That would make him a bit of a narcissistic twat wouldn't it?
God has always been a flailing bumbling crybaby. He can't deal with enemies himself, he always has to test his subjects, he's like a stalking boyfriend, "DO YOU STILL LOVE ME!? D: WHO WERE YOU TALKING TO!? D: PROVE IT!!! PROVE IT I SAID!!! D:"
@Cairn are you crazy or something? The 'free' nations progress away from it? Look at the numbers of politicans in the United States with a christian belief and tell me they move away from it. More than 40% of the people believe in angels to be real, many think the US is a 'christian' nation and you can find a fucking church at every corner.
If religion is something that helps you find peace and Happiness and teaches you to be a good person I have zero problem with it, but this evangelical movies are just born out of the worse fanatics sense of superiority.
To be honest, I slowly get even more and more offended by that. Like you say, if people have that feeling ok. But What I really don't like is that idea that ONLY religion or faith can give you sense of morality or ethics or what ever. Like really? People can not develope as atheists/agnostics a sense of morale? Give me a brake ...
It's a common sensation that, just the other day in a Louis Theroux docu, a Zionist fanatic (to be fair, so not to fingerpoint Jews), tells him (paraphrasing) "I realize you are an atheist, so, please don't take offense, but how do you live with yourself? You have no morality, no sense of right and wrong"
Actually, he phrased it as "forgive what I'm about to say - ", forgive, which I found ironic, because Louis did seem to completely forgive that statement. LOL.
The people who think that only from fearing hell they can develop morality always creep me out, makes me feel they are those types of people who end up choking prostitutes on weekends or that develop paranoia in their old age.
Actually if you ask me most religous people are pretty immoral. That is, if they teach their child that Jesus/Mohamad/big juju is the only thing to believe in, and if they don't they will burn for eternity. I only know one person, that I work with, who says he's not teaching his child anything of his religion, because he wants her to decide for her self, once she's old enough.
