This 15 year old game is half-worse than the same 21 year old game which also was a bit worse in several aspects than some 25 and 26 year old games. Bethesda is shit at any timeline or era. Just sayin'.

Well Graves, if a 15 year old game managed to be slightly better than Bethesdas most modern game which should be considering the incredible evolution in technology like 100 times better ... than it speaks for the Game. Morrowind is far from a perfect title, but it's still a decent game for what it does.

It has as many negative things as positive things going for it. Regardless of when it was released that's basically fact.

We can say Fallout is overrated, it's clunky, still full of bugs that mods had to fix, stuff like getting stuck behind companions and have to reload the game, most NPCs are generic, don't even have dialogues, just floating text, skills that are barely used, limited amount of unarmed weapons and big weapons, etc. It only has in it's favor writing and using a P&P cRPG system.

What's your point? Fallout still hast great characters, branching quests, and different endings for each town. Fallout and morrowind don't compare.

My point is that anyone can say that any game is overrated, because it is their own opinion and they can focus just on the negatives instead of the positives. Also since people like different things from each other, what is a negative for some might be welcomed by others and vice versa.

Morrowind is still a solid game today, it aged badly but it is still a fantasy Action/RPG, Skyrim is not one anymore.
It has great lore and nice ingame books to explain that lore. It has factions and a reputation system that affects the entire game and how you play it, it has the most powerful and complex (while still being simple to learn and use) spell, enchanting and potion crafting in any cRPG to date.

The world building makes sense too, factions make sense, you can't do or join everything because the world has consequences for your choices and actions. You can do what you want but you are rewarded and penalized when you do it until you realize that since you did what you wanted you can't do what you want now (in case of joining rival factions, interacting with people you made not like you, etc).

It also has a pretty good and "strange/alien" feel, different biomes and different style of architecture depending on the races, etc. NPCs treat you differently depending on the race your character is. You have to work to advance in your factions, you need to reach specific attributes and skill values if you want to keep advancing in those, etc.
