Actually dragging the Mrs. to go see it this afternoon. I've heard a lot of good buzz about it. Concern is that a lot of praise is also coming from people whom haven't seen the original but a lot of good comments have come from fans as well so it just might be worth the ticket price. Haven't paid for a ticket to see a movie worthwhile in a long time.
if walpknut say it is good then its actually superb movie 11/10
thanks dude

It was good indeed. Liked the part where they steal the Fury Road screen filter, which also so happened to be an actually good reboot/late sequel. Maybe that's the keystone of what makes these good ^^
They key to them being good is that they are made by people with talent who haven't sold their soul yet.

But more seriously, one niggle is that Ryan Gosling was a bit too stone faced even for the role I found. And the sideplot with the AI felt quite off, but I'll rewatch it when I get the chance to see if I missed anything.
Gosling was perfect. He is a replicant that is supposed to never deviate from his emotional base line he had to be stobe faced. The AI isn't a sideplot. It's part of the theme of finding meaning even in things that aren't real.
The poem the baseline test machine makes him recite is about a man who suffers a near death experience where he sees a white fountain at the end. He reads an article on someone who also describes a white fountain on a near death experience.
