No Mutants Allowed

Risewild
Risewild
They turned a highly intelligent kid into a idiot. They turned his backstory of how he had to grow up quickly due to not using his powers for good when he should, and that his live is a mess into a "all is doomed! but wait... I can do this if I really want to".
They gave him a sidekick? utter rubbish.

The thing about Spiderman is that he was a failure but also a hero. Although he was a nerd, he also managed to get the most popular girl, although he had powers, he managed to not use them when he should and his uncle Ben's died because of it, although he is Spiderman and many people like him, he is ostracized by J.J. Jameson in his newspaper,
Risewild
Risewild
although he is Spiderman and is strong, Peter Parker is still bullied, although he is strong and powerful, he can't tell the world who he is or those he love get in danger. How because he has powers, his first love gets murdered in front of him, because he has powers, he has to fight his best friend dad that became the Green Goblin and ends up dead in a trap set to kill Spiderman,
Risewild

then his best friend becomes the new green goblin.
Basically Spiderman's history is about pain, responsibility, suffering, how his powers only mess up his life, how he is a hero, but also a failure, how his powers only bring him tragedy.

Sorry for the comment spam... I hate the 420 characters limit...

Gotta makee it all clean cut for Disney. THe last time they tried experimenting was Iron Man 3 and everyone hated it. Robert Downey Jr is barely awake in the new movies.

All of what rise said was present in the movie. I really don't see the problem. Best Spiderman yet.

Yeah that's why there is no Uncle Ben, that's why he doesn't experience any actual danger or tragedy, that's why his motivation is impressing his rich guy friend so he can become an Avenger, that's why Spiderman's main conflict in that movie is learning to be Spiderman without depending on his hi tech suit. Flavorless mush, all the edges rounded out, and the prom is tomorrow.

Where was people dying because of his powers? The point of the movie: "I can do this without a fancy suit after all!" when spiderman never had a fancy suit. Where is the real loss for Peter because of his powers? Because he caught a guy, his crush will move away? What a tragedy!

He got caught by his buddy when entering his own room when the real Spiderman would have had his spider sense tell him it wasn't safe to go in. Actually, did at any instance in the entire movie Spiderman's spider sense ever made an appearance? If not, then I think they removed one of the biggest powers he has, his spider sense

The movie didn't have all this shit because we've already seen that five times over. It teaches peter the same lessons but differently for once.

Not to mention a stupid teenager manages to hack and program the custom software made by Tony Stark, the most brilliant genius programmer and robotics expert in the damn world. Stuff that even Dr Doom (another genius robot expert) couldn't do.

Dr doom isn't even in these movies. All I'm hearing is "it's not accurate to the comics" which to be frank doesn't matter at all.

SPiderman was the working man hero, here he is a cynical version of the Cinderella fantasy, someone else's money will propel him to new heights but only if he does what that person says, and this is a good thing according to the movie. He is given generic "likeable traits" all chosen from careful marketing studies so he is a clean cut geek who likes Star Wars and gawks at how everything is "AWESOME!!!!".

But this is a different Spiderman from the other movies, this one's story he never have those things happen to him, hes a totally different person and has different experiences and is totally different psychologically.
For someone who considers Harley Quinn ruined by the changes in the new works, you seem to miss the point about the same thing happening to Spiderman just because you liked the movie. Blind much? ;)

Lessons about responsibility are replaced with lessons about obeying your rich sponsor, the tragedy is neutered and his motives are rendered generic.

In a sense it reflects how the MCU has taken over the comics, Fantastic 4, the Xmen and Deadpool movie rights owned by someone else? Well, you are not ready to have source material to entice people with so let's kill off the characters and their book lines.

You know what? We should make a thread about well established characters being ruined by new works. That way we will not flood poor Walpknut's Twebber Feed. xD

Harley Quinn's character has done a 180. Near as I can tell you just don't like the new spiderman becuase there's no uncle ben and he's mentored by stark. Apart from that it's the same character.

Spectacular Spiderman (The Greg Weissman cartoon) changed a lot of the concepts from the Comics but it delivered on what made Spiderman big. It didn't shy away from the tragedy, in fact it enhanced it by giving characters rounded characterization.

Oh Apart from him being completely different and having different values, different origin and being a tumor of Iron Man, he is completely the same... wow.
