Usually the only fix for save file corruption is to revert to an uncorrupt save file or just restart the run.

What Walp said. SorcerorDave, the guy who does those super in-character Skyrim and New Vegas RPs, found a workaround at some point, but I can't remember what.

"One issue I notice is when I mod the hell out of the game the mods mess the game up"

Yeah that's the games fault sure... :/

-Game advertises modding capabilities

-Game is modded

Not really. That's not the fault of the game if the user mods it until it breaks or if a mod is poorly done and it breaks the game.
But even without modding Bethesda's version of Gamebryo has a tendency towards corrupting files and NPCs and maps glitching out.

Eh, despite of any kind of workaround I think it's generally much safer to do a clean install and restart a from a clean save ie. start a game from the point where it's completely unmodded. Trying to use a save from that has all the modded content/capability after getting rid of the mods is just recipe for disaster.

Dammit, I was already at Novac and had just finished the rocket quest and recruited Boone.
But I am sick of these errors so I have no choice to start over and cross fingers that removed the old data file and re installing FNV will help.

It is very frustrating BTW to find out which mods exactly conflict with another. I don't have many on my game but I did add a lot that restore content, open up Freeside and the Strip, and a couple of minor tweaks to compensate for stuff that never got fixed.
The Dutch Ghost
The Dutch Ghost
Most of them seem to work well in general but I notice for example that not some minor details that mods were to restore don't appear, at least not in the last save I had before I deleted them all. (a couple of Brahmin troughs next to the main building of Novac)

Damn, that sucks. But wait.... New Vegas Uncut? AND Freeside open AND Strip open? Your PC should be strong enough, then. However.... iirc there's a version of New Vegas uncut that's an all-in-one which ALSO made Freeside open, so.... did you install that version of Uncut AND Freeside open, too?
The Dutch Ghost
The Dutch Ghost
No I didn't, and strange that that one did not show up when I was on the Nexus to download these mods again as apparently I had removed the zip files after I downloaded and used them years ago.

Yeah my computer can run all of these, though sometimes reloading or quick travel is needed to make certain restored parts appear like NPCs.

Yeah, I guess being so shitty even with mods the game would break if you aren't used to it. I can only recommend using MO because it helps alot with load order, compatibility, resolving conflicts, and merging plugins because it was designed to integrate all the relevant functionality like FNVEdit, LOOT, Merge Plugins Standalone, etc etc
Black Angel

Even then, you should also watch out because you're using the biggest mods out there.
The Dutch Ghost

It may take some time before I decide to give MO a try.
Reason is that that after playing FNV for several hours I realize that it is still to fresh on my mind, I have played it so often that it no longer holds surprises for me and than it is no longer fun.

Do the mods that open up areas in the game have such an impact on it that it can affect elements such as NPCs?

BTW, other weird bug now. One cut character I re added to the game is spawned twice, and for some reason a NCR trooper is moved or transported in Primm. (this causes trouble with the raider mission)
Black Angel
Black Angel
Iirc from reading the desc of some of the open mods, yeah that's what would likely happen because it was so big there might be some bugs and glitches. Not to mention some scripts and triggers might conflict with Obsidian's original intended ones
Black Angel
Black Angel
And for cut character appearing twice, that's more likely because you have two different mods installed that add those exact same NPC. The only way to solve that problem is to only have installed at the time, or make compatibility patch. Mind if I know what cut character is it?
The Dutch Ghost
The Dutch Ghost
The NPC that was being spawned twice was indeed the result of two mods that restore this NPC. (it is the adventurer just outside Goodspring near Jean)

The trooper that spawns in Primm is caused by "Outside bets" and I am not sure if this happened the first time I installed that mod.
Disabling it makes the trooper disappear but also probably undoes the fixes and restored content this mod adds.

Most of the cut content mods were handled by moburma, if I'm not mistaken. You should carefully check his mods and see if one of the individual mods were already integrated into Outside Bets/Freeside Open, since both integrated the individual mods for people who's okay to get the big mods.
