I saw the article. The controversy seems pointless now when the game isn't even out yet. It'll make some sense if the controversy occurred after the game's actual release but I guess Kotaku needed the site views.

OG game is one of the best last gen. Cannot wait to play the new one.

I can see both sides. Yes, the male-slept-with-a-transwoman-surprise is overdone for both comedic and dramatic effect...but it still happens because that's how this society is. The atmosphere of Catherine isn't going to go 'He's going to kill Qaterin for 'tricking' him' or some bullshit like that.

Hell it could be a whole story about him getting over his social mores regarding transpeople because fuck it, he fucked Qaterin, he likes her and he liked the sex, fuck Catherine and Katherine and their drama anyway.

Should I wait for the remake or just emulate the original?

I've heard the new remake will allow you to choose whether to play with the new features in it or play the unchanged vanilla version on the remake. I can't verify if this is true but if it is, just get the remake.
