I mean, of course bad storytelling in something expected to be good is "subverting expectations", but I'm not sure how this alludes to "silencing criticism."

Can you really call yourself a Fallout fan if you love Fallout 4, honestly?

I'm not disputing that. I'm just saying there are potentially people out there who've watched Star Trek: Discovery on Netflix (I'm in the UK so it's not on that weird site Americans have to go on to watch it or whatever was going on with that) and are maybe put off by the '60s, or in this case...

    IT Chapter Two teaser trailer!

I was a little frustrated by Pennywise last time (he was more jumpscary than creepy) but I enjoyed the film otherwise. From the trailer it looks like they're gonna explore why everyone in Derry is so weird, so yeah I'm pumped for this.

Can you really call yourself a Fallout fan if you love Fallout 4, honestly?

As someone who has never played Fallout 4 and honestly probably never will, all I can say is that, I can safely consider myself a Fallout fan, as a fan of Fallout, Fallout 2, Tactics and New Vegas. If you're a fan of Fallout 3 and 4 and 76, as well as the other games I listed, sure, you're a...

The Master's Super Mutants. We see their rise and fall, we meet their leader, their rank and file, their fanatic followers. We learn their almost mythological origins (I like that they've become this strange detail in the origins of the NCR and Enclave and other groups).

Is there an argument to be made that Fallout 3 took a lot of inspiration from Modern Warfare?

Some people are able to replay Bethesda games. I can't. Why? Because I can do everything in one playthrough. Why the hell should I play it again when I'll just be doing the exact same thing? These games take hundreds of hours to complete. No thank you. (computer's all fixed up) I suppose my...

I've lost my appetite for games

I've started playing a lot of older games that I've been hearing about for years but never played. I actually finished Final Fantasy VII for the first time recently. The blocky people are fine, I don't need a remake (though they could fix up the controls and speed up the battle intros I guess)...

Is there an argument to be made that Fallout 3 took a lot of inspiration from Modern Warfare?

Apologies for the late response. My computer is currently in the repair shop so I am currently on a library computer (yes I know...shocking that libraries still exist) Anyway, you guys brought up some interesting points. I'd forgotten that a lot of Bethesda's influences are actually pretty all...

Is there an argument to be made that Fallout 3 took a lot of inspiration from Modern Warfare?

Now we've seen the way that Bethesda aped off of Fortnite's success with Fallout 76, Minecraft's in Fallout 4, and the success of mobile games in general with Fallout Shelter, is there an argument to be made that Fallout 3 was made with the intent to ape off of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's...

    About Fallout 4's companion system

Umm, yeah...check out this super, amazing, awesome thing in Fallout 4! Isn't it what you always wanted? http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/fallout/images/6/6b/Thirst_Zapper.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/700?cb=20160902175156

Fallout 3, Could it have been a good game?

I guess my point was, yeah, just to completely remove Bethesda's story and introduce a new one. For example: After realising that the Enclave on the West Coast have been destroyed, a group of Enclave living in a military vault under the Pentagon decide that they have to take the initiative, so...

Fallout 3, Could it have been a good game?

Have there been any mods that have completely overhauled the story? I checked a while back and was shocked to find that no one had. I guess people just think it's not worth it.

How is Fallout 4 even possible, if cryogenic tech KILLS YOU IN FALLOUT!?

Sigh... I remember someone here (way, way back I think) came up with a really good settlement story for how the Vault experiment produced clones, who then built a town...I can't remember if they were a generational thing or if they just kept cloning more and more people to keep the population...

    About Fallout 4's companion system

Fallout Nuka World was inspired by cosplaying. These people have zero respect for games they see as being boring and outdated.

    About Fallout 4's companion system

I'm kinda shocked that they're even capable of re-skinning old game engines to be honest. But even that seems beyond their capabilities when you see the far superior hi-res re-skins made by modders.

How is Fallout 4 even possible, if cryogenic tech KILLS YOU IN FALLOUT!?

Hmm, not sure if that's the case. I'm pretty sure Vault experiments are mentioned in the Fallout Bible.... Bethesda's "experiments" are terrible and boring though, I'll agree to that. So much potential, and they blew EVERY SINGLE ONE.

    About Fallout 4's companion system

I actually mentioned something like that in a thread a while back, where there's a cult of ghouls wanting to be "smoothskins" again, so they murder people and skin them and wear body suits and face masks. It was for a mod I think, I suggested they could use the "Ghoul Mask" as a good...

How is Fallout 4 even possible, if cryogenic tech KILLS YOU IN FALLOUT!?

Exactly. The very fact that they thought Fallout was "The Post-Apocalyptic 1950s" just goes to show how off-base they were about the games. I genuinely believe that Todd Howard, Emil Pe-whatever and the rest of the crew in charge just watched the Fallout, Fallout 2 (and possibly Tactics) intros...

Fallout 3, Could it have been a good game?

If they fixed the gameplay, combat, visuals, world design, story, dialogue and lore then yes, it could have been a good game.

I mean, this thread assumes that the writers at Bethesda have actually played Fallout 2.
