Does anyone here still play Real Time Strategy games?

Balancing is a big issue in SC2. Since SC1 isn't actively worked on the balance has remained fairly stagnant albeit consistent (it's not swingy like SC2). Terran are essentially a swiss army knife with an obnoxious amount of counters to each race. They don't have any particularly major...

Does anyone here still play Real Time Strategy games?

I still play Total War games which are essentially 4x grand strategy with real time battles. When I was younger I used to play more twitch-based RTS' like Star Craft but over the years I can't keep up with the pacing anymore. It's not fun to me and having to manage so many things in real time...

The Last of Us 2 - Two cowgirls murdering each other's loved ones

I don't know how to digest the themes of TLOU2. It is literally a crap shoot of killing is bad but you have no agency over it, revenge is bad (but its ok in this one case), etc. Honestly, what theme are you picking up that I'm missing here.

He deserves to die and never have any sort of path to redemption. We live in a society of absolutes.

The Last of Us 2 - Two cowgirls murdering each other's loved ones

Uh ACKSHUALLY Joel is a bad guy because he's selfish and "d00med" society by not allowing a military junta led by total fucking psychopaths butcher a moody, teenage girl.

The Last of Us 2 - Two cowgirls murdering each other's loved ones

It's a bit of an overused trope that anti-heroes can only achieve true redemption by getting killed in the story.

This is now a Ghost of Tsushima thread. Cowgirls get out.

Considering the targeted audience of gamers with a capital g, probably not.

I forget but did they quantify their progress at all, or is it mostly "trust me Joel we are so close to figuring it out."

The Last of Us 2 - Two cowgirls murdering each other's loved ones

In "His Dark Materials" (the show) Ms. Coulter is cold in her trade of sending children to the literal guillotine, but when her kid is accidentally picked she has an absolute fit of panic. That would have been thematically interesting in TLOU with Abby coming to terms with the question of...

The Last of Us 2 - Two cowgirls murdering each other's loved ones

People don't explain anything to each other in this universe. Joel can't even take a moment to explain the 27 previously failed experiments where they took fungi-immune patients and hacked them up: "This time it will be different - I swear." The fireflies are a Berkeley freshman explaining why...

The Last of Us 2 - Two cowgirls murdering each other's loved ones

The artists should have done the Cassie Cage litmus test: Does our character (who is from a grounded, somewhat realistic world) look bigger than a woman that spends her entire time beating the shit out of dudes built like freight trains? If the answer is yes then

The Last of Us 2 - Two cowgirls murdering each other's loved ones

She was never trans beyond the ND dev that leaked the motivation behind her resembling the incredible hulk (to appeal to the trans community). But even CT Phipps made the case that the trans community wants to look less like someone stuck in the middle. That's the point of escapism and its...

The Last of Us 2 - Two cowgirls murdering each other's loved ones

That's Hass' tongue in cheek point. They portray Abby in a manner that is so unflattering that it looks like a botched re-assignment surgery. They want her to be a product of the environment but Ellie and Dina don't look anything like she does. So where does Abby sit on this spectrum. Who is...

    Outer Worlds - Massive Disappointment

That partially explains the weak narrative / writing at least. The absence of CA is still felt - most likely permanently now since he's apparently a raging abuser (allegedly).

Right. But Sawyer is still with Obsidian - he didn't contribute to the game?

    Outer Worlds - Massive Disappointment

It looks like FNV was lightning in a bottle, and anyone who expected this to be FNV 2.0 was thoroughly disappointed.
