The Couriers path makes no sense to me.

Well, the Courier didn't know about the Quarry Junction situation until he got to Goodsprings. As for Benny and the Khans, they came from the north, but sneaked through a path in the mountains (the Khans know the way better than anyone), where one of them actually died. You can find the rest of...

Is Elder Lyons a sneering Imperialist?

That would make sense. I also liked the idea of Danse being some sort of henchman, which also justifies why Maxson is so eager to get rid of him at the first opportunity. I could buy that he did something similar with the Lyons girl, who may have threatened the succession line, but I really...

Is Elder Lyons a sneering Imperialist?

Let's not confuse hero with leader. A leader doesn't have to be a hero, a hero is not necessarely a good leader. By any definition, the lone wanderer is a hero. Dedicated to a cause greater than himself, ready to sacrifice himself for it etc. Sure. But a leader? I don't think so. In F3, you...

Is Elder Lyons a sneering Imperialist?

Long and interesting text. A good read and thoughts. Yet, Matthias names you as "choosen one" and recognize that you'll be the doom of the Enclave, based on nothing. Which is actually very interesting, as it shows that even the brotherhood can fall back to tribalism, local legends etc. A subtle...

Are the Mojave and New Vegas doomed?

Let's not forget that Ulysses is not mentally sane, he is paranoid and obsessed with the idea of nations being prevented from growing because of external threats. Tunnelers could simply be fuel for his paranoia and obsession, and not actually be as dangerous as he thinks they are. That's how I...

What were the first days of the internet like?

Mid 90's for me, had the chance of trying internet at some sort of convention. I sat at a computer and randomly typed "Star wars" and "Alien" in the search bar, which led me to fan websites which were basically just text about these universes' respective lores. It blew my mind to know that I now...

    Your Fallout 5 wishlist

Not even new ones. Bethesda have had Arkane Studio as executives for years, and I'm sure they'd be delighted to work on a Fallout title. These guys can deliver a game with excellent level design, and a properly written script. Simple enough to be understandable by everyone, but with good...

    Tyranny Discussion Thread

Ha, picture the fatebinder coming with a badly written edict, trying to make sense out of it in front of the targets, while they mock him. Reminds me of this:

    Best villains in gaming

Yeah, but his quest of fixing the consequences of his pride is also led by... another pride. The pride of becoming the absolute master, able to decide his own fate. The master he was promised to become, when he exterminated the humans and ruled over the ashes of the world. Yes, Kain is...

    Best villains in gaming

Yes and no. Fate itself is the villain of Legacy of Kain, because it forced Kain to be an ultimate villain. Which makes him interesting and deep. How responsible is he, when you know that his fate of absolute evil was written centuries before he was even born ? Is he a hero for wanting to revert...

    Tyranny Discussion Thread

Genghis Khan also made very strict laws against the taking of female slaves as war trophies, and strictly forbid the warchiefs from taking another hordeman's wife. While at the same time, butchering millions of people. It probably wasn't by morality, but to avoid internal conflicts between...

    Tyranny Discussion Thread

Probably a hint at the characters' personality, rather than a direct indication of Kyros' sex. Wether they decide to see their superior being as a female or as a male. A bit like in New Vegas, where you can guess the level of education and the allegeances of an NPC depending on the way he/she...

    Tyranny Discussion Thread

So far, I enjoy Tyranny. I like how it twists the usual rules of Vogler/Campbell's storytelling, while acknowleding them. You start after the main conflict, out of a comfort zone, and already established as a person of authority. It's interesting, and I'm curious where this is going, really. I...

    Favorite comic publisher

I'd go for DC comics. Their editions of "Hellblazer" and "Judge Dredd" were excellent. Couldn't speak for the other franchises though.

    Best villains in gaming

Kain from the legacy of Kain is a brillant antagonist. I'd go for him as the best villain in gaming. I also love the Wau from SOMA, Irenicus from Baldur's gate and the master from Fallout... But the most intimidating one is probably the shadow from Amnesia. Doesn't even has a physical form...

General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

I'm playing a lot of Eve Online. The one and only multiplayer game I ever paid a subscription for, but it's really worth it. A very hard game to learn, unforgiving when you make mistakes, but in the end, worth every penny. The lore is surprisingly interesting too.

    Rise of the Tomb Raider

I too was surprised and a bit disappointed by the writing. Some may say it's closer to the classic Tomb Raider, and while they'd be absolutely right, I would have preferred if they kept the 2013's reboot kind of writing. Grittier, more emotional and realistic. Making Lara a volunteer for the...

Beautiful Game / best RPG of all time

As said, it mostly depends on the script heavy mods you use. Incompatibilty and heavy script usage deals much more in your memory than the graphical mods, in the end. That, and all the stability tweaks possible can really help, except for the "crash fix" mod, which only made things worse for me...

Diversity in video games and whatnot

Which is weird, in comparison with the Elder Scrolls, where your ethnicity has a direct impact on your nature. If you play a redguard (aka, an african guy), you can take more damage and run faster (!) because... er... "all black people run faster and don't feel as much pain as the other people"...

Beautiful Game / best RPG of all time

Oh, that's not a screenshot from me, it's from TAZ enb nexus page. I use another one, Silent Hill ENB with tweaked settings and the depth of field from Bleak ENB. Looks good, sharpens the textures pretty well and it gives the "legacy of kain, dark fantasy" atmosphere I was looking for. Yes, with...
