That story page has me looking forward to this mod, for sure. It could be like that Day of the Dead movie where the scientists lured the specimens into a holding area, for subsequent capture. It worked well for catching zombies, probably works well for those critters.

Not sure how you got the ones you have gotten, but damn if I haven't enjoyed them. Playing the game would have been the best way to absorb this material, but this way we get to see how the developers were thinking. It's a great experience on its own.
