I belive karma should have been split in good bar, bad bar and neutral/grey bar both for player and NPC communities. So the family alive = neutral/grey karma points for PC and maybe bad and neutral karma points from the community.

An action adventure game or a shooter or a fighting game has stats just like a "cprg", they're just different. Eye of the Beholder is a party strategy game, Diablo a hack and slash game, neither are rpgs nor have at least a decent amount of rpg elemets (it took Fallout 1 to reach that stage).
