Problems with FO3 summed up with old quote

The teams, specifically the important roles, of Fallout 1 and 2 were drastically different. There's no denying that. And for something that came out just one year later and reused everything.. it was pretty noticeable. The quality was just not there. It almost felt like a rush job to capitalize...

Imagination - The cornerstone of Fallout's Universe.

Well, doubt all you wish.. but it's true. Sneaking depends heavily on environmental factors. You won't just "sneak run" up behind someone in broad daylight while wearing power armor. And yes, your pip-boy radio can give you away as well. Sound is just as important. Kick over a bottle while...

Imagination - The cornerstone of Fallout's Universe.

That's because sneak isn't nearly as cheesy as it was in FO 1/2. It's more like a Thief game. Lighting, positioning, cover, your armor, etc. They all matter. And some enemies are more impervious to it than others. It's hard to sneak up on something like an ant because they naturally hunt via...

    The Perfect Fallout...

Pardon me. I didn't know this forum was under the jurisdiction of the grammar police and the typo investigation unit. And no, I will not get trolled into a 'Fallout 3 sucks' crapfest, sorry to disappoint.

    The Perfect Fallout...

Van Buren engine would have been great, maybe not today but 5 years ago. You could obviously update it in that time though. But not the story, anything but the story. Mormon's, mummies, and mad scientists? No. Just no.

Imagination - The cornerstone of Fallout's Universe.

Your character skill most certainly affects your accuracy in real time. A lot. It's this kind of talk that makes it hard to take things seriously because it sounds very much like people are speaking with no experience. There is a huge difference in 40 and 80 small guns skill with even the...

    Gripes about the writing

No, it's just a fact of gaming. The only games that even come close to mimicing 'gaining favor and trust' are MMOs and that is only achieved through hours and hours of grinding bears for bear asses or other menial tasks to increase your 'reputation' to unlock more quests. In the end you just...

    Fallout 3 patch 1.0.0.15 released

I do not have specifics. But I'd wager that some of the issues that have been widely reported would be top of the list. A few Megaton NPCs that like to fall over the railing to their death, the Big Town robots can be unreilable when completing the freeform quest, etc. But that's just a guess...

Fallout 3 moves 4.7 million copies

Well, I wasn't suggesting NMA was the only group of true fans, I just used this site as an example. In general most fans of Fallout 3 who are new to the series have no idea of the controversy surrounding it in certain circles. And you are right, there are some of those on Bethesda's own...

    Fallout 3 patch 1.0.0.15 released

It's a bit unfair to suggest the only reason this patch came out is at the behest of Microsoft. While they may have encouraged them to speed it up, and in fact may have been partly to blame since it looks like GFWL is part of the conflict, there is a decent patch being worked on for the game in...

Fallout 3 moves 4.7 million copies

You don't really want to go there do you? Most people playing Fallout 3 haven't even heard of this site and have no idea how miserable the 'true fans' are. I've seen far more venom and vile from the 'original fans' towards 'modern gamers' (to be nice) than the opposite direction.

    Gripes about the writing

And praytell why would they ask someone they have never encountered to do this? And why couldn't that logic be applied to Fallout 3? Maybe Simms thinks someone fresh out of the vault would be appropriate for dealing with pre-war technology and since you are likely not corrupted by the...

V.A.T.S. is NOT a combat system

A PC would notice an NPC using VATS, if only in the multiple shots hitting them in the face at once before they were gibbed. If you want to 'mimic' an NPC using VATS you would just give him random bursts of insane firing speed and exceptional accuracy while doing so.

Fallout 3 moves 4.7 million copies

You can provide a link for that right? With such a vicious attack I am sure you are capable of backing it up. Frankly I am shocked it wasn't included in your unnecessary post at all.

Fallout 3 moves 4.7 million copies

Yes. I'm sure they care a lot about what you happen to think. They are going to put away those money hats and donate that Ferrari money to helping the homeless in Zimbabwe all because you don't think it should have a number 3 on the box. Please. Consider how huge that 360 leaked version...

    Fallout 3 reviews, hype, thoughts?

Because that's Moira. She is retardedly optomistic. There are plenty of people whose disposition and tone change based on your attitude towards them. And let's not act like the talking heads in Fallout 1/2 wouldn't go from smiling to snarling back to smiling based on whatever dialog option...

    Fallout 3 reviews, hype, thoughts?

Wait, what? Fallout 1 was anything but balanced. A major point you seem to be trying to make in your original post is that system as it existed was perfect, and I am sorry but it was not. The fact that you admit you ALWAYS selected Gifted as a trait is proof enough.

    Fallout 3 reviews round-up #30

\ Yes, it was so polished that we only had to wait a year post-release for them to revamp it and make it what they admit is release-worthy.

Fallout 3 ads and other tidbits

Lucky you. I am currently addicted to Mentats and every so often my screen goes fuzzy and I get a sound like my head is pounding. It doesn't last terribly long, but it could be detrimental mid-combat, that's for sure.

    Fallout 3 reviews round-up #30

It could be simply that the game just is that good to many people. Nah, Bethesda paid them all off. I'm quite sure they would stake their entire corporate future on a scandal involving paying "GayGamers" a few grand for a favorable review.
