What you describe is more a workaround than a solution. Better have that choice outside the playthrough.

I think Auto-install is the best option for noobies. Also i hate having those settings ingame. Notably pissed having a popup asking me if i want to keep playing while i am having a tense conversation with the overseer.

There is the 13 years time limit, that would only be relevant when you try to grind. I guess he can try to recruit companions and only use them there. (so they don't spend their initial ammos)

I don't think fixt or restoration projects creators ever claimed that their mods were unofficial patches. On the other hand, their mods INCLUDE some unofficial patches (some having been created by themselves) .

If the game is good, lack of true ending doesn't prevent that game to be good. But having one could make it better.

Does he even dream to get the same hype for Borderlands than HL3 ? HL3 would break preorder records.
