And you don't see how they could just expand Oblivion's chat system into the Fallout style of dialogue?

Why no, I haven't had a chance to play Fallout 3 yet. :P It's been a good long while since I have played Fallout 2, as well. A few years, to be honest. I'm going out today to pick up a copy of "Fallout: The Ultimate Collection" -- the one with Fallout 1, 2, Tactics, and the new Fallout...

Please, feel free to show me the difference. Given that Perlman recorded part of the teaser trailer - it's a NEW recording, btw -- I would say it's a pretty definite confirmation. But then again, them using Ron Perlman "War. War never changes." is just them screwing up Fallout 3...

Fallout, as a series, stopped being a cult classic sometime between it's release and when news of it's newest sequel started trumping Starcraft 2 for the cover story of various large video game magazines, like GI.

Have you considered the idea that they might not have many models done, outside of the super mutant's? Or that the Super Mutant makes for a really awesome screenshot for the general public? As opposed to, say, a Ghoul?

Explain this please. I'm sorry that Bethesda hasn't hired a group of 10 people to sit here and answer questions and relay all the insults and death threats to the Fallout 3 devs personally, but I don't see how you get the "Bethesda doesn't care" thing. Not with how they bent over backwards...

    2. Well, what would you suggest as an alternative. I'm all ears. Lets just start with the turn based thing though. Cause AP only really works in a turn based environment. Do we all understand why we can't have a turn based game? Not for a modern audience, anyway. 3D games are too...

Ah, you see, but that's the catch. I LIKE Oblivion, even with it's faults. I prefer Morrowind, to be honest, but I'll live. They could release a Fallout skin for Oblivion's engine, unchanged, and I would be perfectly happy with that. As long as they don't screw up the setting. And...

    - Let me just say this. There is NO WAY, AT ALL, outside of some small Japanese Indy shops, that we are EVER going to see a Isometric game again. EVER! - Dialogue... Can you honestly tell me the difference between Fallout's dialogue system and Oblivions? They seem remarkably similar...

I find your mention of Blizzard to be particuarly interesting, given that: 1. Blizzard is legendary for stealing everything they've made recently from Games-Workshop. (Warhammer vs Warcraft, Warhammer 40k vs Starcraft) 2. World of Warcraft is considered by most "pure" MMORPG fans to be a...

Except... We know absolutely nothing about the game, other than a few tidbits and 10 pages of tiny, grainy, screenshots. And everything they have released would have you guys salivating if they had kept the VB engine. So I ask you again. What in that article has you going all :( :( :( about?

Except, Metroid is not a First Person Shooter. No one who has played through the Metroid' games can honestly say that they are not Metroid games. The spirit of exploration and adventure is there, in full swing. As for Bethesda, I have to call you on that one. They have shown extreme...

So what would have made you happy, Alec? If they had released screenshots of a modern game with 2d isometric sprites? They would have been laughed out of the screening room. And now it's Bethesda's brainchild. And they've decided to add a little more realism to it. That's inevitable...

I see a supermutant with a camera zoomed too close to the upper body for the groin and leg targets to be available. Or do you believe we can't target the legs, either? It's entirely possible they removed the eye targeting, for balance reasons. I mean, it was pretty silly later on when you...

I am not a plant. I do not work for Bethesda. I actually work in tech support for a major US computer maker, and years of writing letters to customers kinda ingrains a certain level of politeness to one's "speech". :) Anyway, I really just wanted to counteract the negativity in this...

I really don't think it's realistic for us to demand that we only see stuff from FO1 / FO2... And while we didn't see something like that in FO1/2, it's definately the kind of irresponsible use of nuclear technology that would have fit right on in. In addition, the timeline has surely...

I think personal strawman attacks might be a bit over the top right yet, don't you agree? :) As for using the Fatboy, no, I'm more of a sniper player than anything else. Called shot to the eyes / groin? Yes Please! Actually, I'd really rather like to try a bare handed fighter in Fallout...

    1. While I agree the Fatman is a but much, they might be just using that to show off the engine. Even if it's not a joke / tech demo item, well... I could honestly see some of our... less intelligent compatriots, especially those from 30 years ago, who might think something along those lines...

It only looked cartoonish because of the technology of the time. They couldn't exactly go nuts with the graphics with sprites, after all. It looks fine. They even got the random propaganda and 1950s-era technology right.

Having read the article, both in my copy of GI (which came yesterday evening) and on the site... I have to say I'm quite psyched! I loved Oblivion -- even with it's limitations -- and Fallout 3 seems to have every bit of the Fallout Spirit. I mean, honestly? Return of SPECIAL? A hybrid...
