    Rosh talks about Bethesda

Memberlist is irrelevant. What counts is how many people share the attitude displayed in the first post of this thread. That number is, I would contend, pretty small. FOBOS was a bad game. It wasn't destroyed by NMA, it was destroyed by terrible reviews and word-of-mouth among more moderate...

    Rosh talks about Bethesda

Why? Given the attitude that's been displayed so far, why would they want to? You're only representative of about 100 potential sales. Many people here have already dismissed any possibility of the game being "worthy". Damnit, you're not giving them any reason to try. People ordered tactics...

    Rosh talks about Bethesda

Lionheart was "mainstream"? I thought it was a poor attempt to generate some revenue by kludging together some previous development work with cranky graphics using a poorly thought-out implementation of a turn-based combat engine an a distinct lack of polish. I could be missing the point as...

    Rosh talks about Bethesda

Again, it's important to consider which group of fans are being alienated. Consider that the number of people who were unhappy with the direction Van Buren was taking and who felt that Fallout 2 was "not a proper Fallout game" are a vanishingly small section of the fanbase. That particular...

    Rosh talks about Bethesda

Depends on exactly which group of fans they're aiming to please. You can't please all the fans all the time, obviously. It shouldn't be a huge effort to please a lot of fans of Fallout as a franchise/setting. Most people here, on my observation, are not merely fans of the Fallout world; they're...

    Rosh talks about Bethesda

This probably won't go down very well, but a very pertinent question to ask right now is "does Bethesda have any desire to have the hardcore Fallout fanbase associated with their work?" I agree absolutely with Kharn's comment that they should be able to "handle" it, but that misses the point...

    JE talks about Bis/IPLY

Amusingly, you could probably construct a fairly solid argument that an opinion could be classified as a fact in that it's descriptive of the way an individual feels about a particular subject, and similarly, "I think that x" or "my opinion is that x" are both factual statements. The content of...

    Interplay under investigation

No, that's the point. Do BG3 in-house and get Obsidian to make FO3 for them. Bioware keep the "mainstream" product and give the development studio that includes the lead designer for PST the more "niche" (and therefore hopefully more "hardcore") title. What's not to like?

    Interplay under investigation

If we're permitted a little fantasising, how does Bioware picking up both spare licenses, developing BG3 themselves and doing a KOTOR 2 with FO3 sound? I'd be happy.
