The verdict on Caesar's Legion (minor early-game spoilers)?

Yeah, but they crucify people. That's pretty fucked up. Also, you get positive karma for shuffling them off the mortal coil, if I remember correctly.

    Saving Benny? *spoilers*

This one's bothering me. I too wanted to keep him alive in my 'evil' playthough, if only because his utter ballsiness makes me laugh, but the option which would appear to be the 'stealthy' one still gets Caesar's Legion attacking me as well as him. What's the point of giving him the stealth boy...

The verdict on Caesar's Legion (minor early-game spoilers)?

What did you think of them in the end? I avoided most NV pre-release stuff, so I knew almost nothing about them. I have to say that I was sold on them from the moment I walked into Nipton and down the main road, flanked by impaled heads and crucified Powder Gangers. Very well done as a ruthless...

Things you *aren't* pleased to see

Wow, that constitutes a 'homosexual theme'? You know, acknowledging that gay people exist and are not inherently evil isn't really a 'theme', and nor should they make gay people 'ashamed' or 'conflicted' to satisfy the twisted moral mores of people like you two.

    Sightseeing in Fallout: New Vegas

Looks identical to Billy Creel from Megaton, apart from the eyepatch:

J.E. Sawyer on key dialogue writing concepts

The only Obsidian game that springs to my mind is KOTOR II, which was a buggy as hell spin-off of the Bioware original. I know they did Neverwinter Nights II as well, but I never played it.

    Sightseeing in Fallout: New Vegas

Isn't that guy in the dinosaur's mouth one of the Megaton townsfolk? What's he doing all the way out in Vegas?

NCR Ranger Armor and Pelit scans

I have no desire to engage in another tangential semantics debate, so we'll have to agree to disagree on my use of that particular word. As for the design of the armour, it's post-apocalyptic. They probably have to make do with whatever armour they can get their hands on. Also, and I may have...

NCR Ranger Armor and Pelit scans

Haha, that would be a bit too picky? It's worth remembering that this is concept art for a post-apocalytpic game which features robots, supermutants and giant mutated chameleons. It's not a design for the US Army's latest body armour, so I can kind of forgive them their lack of verisimilitude.

J.E. Sawyer on key dialogue writing concepts

The thing is, they don't all look completely different. 1) and 2) are the same question in different registers, and may or not may elicit different responses from the other speaker. 3) is threatening, and should lead to a different response to 1) or 2). I don't think that's quite what he was...

J.E. Sawyer on key dialogue writing concepts

As mentioned, Bioware could really do with doing this. Upon multiple play-throughs of both ME's 1 and 2, it's clear that a lot of the dialogue options given are exactly the same, irrespective of which option you choose. Hell, some of the options you choose and what comes out of your character's...

Fallout: New Vegas Ask a Dev

Aye, I'm not really sure where you got the idea that you need to eat more frequently than you need to drink.

    New Vegas debut trailer

Not at all. You're assuming that I consider 'NMA' to be a homogenous whole, rather than a varied group of individuals that happen to share the same interest. The 4chan picture was simply the most egregious example of naysaying towards FO:NV based on a teaser trailer (which is not to say there...

    New Vegas debut trailer

I'm confused as to why you would leap to the conclusion that I'm cross-site trolling. I was responding to something that an NMA user posted in this very thread. As for the use of 'we' here, it was a general 'we'. If you want to interpret that as '4chan', knock yourself out.

    New Vegas debut trailer

Holy shit. I mean, seriously, holy shit. There's pedantry and there's fucking pedantry. What, do we expect all games to be rigorously grounded in absolute real-world veracity now? Should the Obsidian devs perhaps have taken a course in advanced robotics before commencing work on the title...

Further Level Cap Increases Could Unbalance 'Fallout 3'

I disagree; it wasn't even made with that simple concept in mind. Bethsoft repeatedly stated they would be making 'their' RPG with FO3, and the result, whilst faithful in some areas, deviates in many places in order to sanitise and simplify things (psychotic cannibalistic raiders, uniformly evil...

    Beyond the Fallout

It's like a lot of people have already said here: the gaming industry is comparable to the movie industry or the music industry, in that what sells is generally sanitised, generic commercial crap, and this is definitely the route Bethsoft are taking. This is obviously at the cost of their...

Bethesda: "No one can match us"

Anything that was good about Fallout 3 (and I don't think it was all bad, although it wasn't a patch on FO1 or 2) was and is obscured in the shitstorm of piss-poor PR and shallow, juvenile statements released by Hines and co. leading up to the release of FO3 and beyond. This was only compounded...

Intelligent Deconstruction Review of Fallout 3

A very well-written, thoughtful review of Fallout from the perspective of a Fallout gamer, rather than a review. I agree with a good deal of what you said, and to add a few thoughts: Little Lamplighter: this has been mentioned elsewhere on the boards but why, dear God, why put a town of...
