    Fallout 3 reviews round-up #64

Right. Like when Final Fantasy asked me whether I want "WAIT" or "ACTIVE TIME BATTLE" for my combat. When that choice was presented I immediately realized that Final Fantasy was truly a "play it however you'd like" open RPG.

Again: really? Did we play the same Fallouts? Are we playing the same Fallout 3? What's going on here?

    Fallout 3 reviews round-up #21

Is Military.com on crack? I'm "Very Evil" and the only people who shoot me on sight are bounty hunters. The Brotherhood of Steel love me, never once gave me any problems. The karma system seems to be so limited in effect it's been rendered useless.

Word on Varese, and on the Ionisation vid: a monumental piece. These reviews are pretty sad to read -- and I'm actually, surprisingly, really enjoying the game! Do these people actually play the games, and think about what they've played? Do they get paid more if their memory is shorter?

    *sigh* NPC level scaling

    Fallout 3 is actually decent

Yeah, it doesn't really feel like a Fallout game, and there are a number of criticisms one could weigh against it, but I'm still enjoying the experience. A good, flawed RPG from Bethesda that's a whole lot more interesting than Oblivion.

    *sigh* NPC level scaling

Pretty sure that was just chance occurrence. I'm at level six and still getting a bunch of easily-dispatched mole rats, and dogs die quicker, too. Nothing of a higher level has come to "replace" them.

    Fallout 3 magazine tidbits

So has any one of the dozens of hands-on gameplay write-ups mentioned a user's ability to turn off the slow motion for VATS users? Or is that an agreed no-no talking point with Bethesda? Or are these guys not even thinking about that while playing the game, and we'll instead have a sort of...

    Fallout 3: Gathering Good Karma

Yeah on Bethesda's narrow idea of the karma system, but the Home factor doesn't bother me much since I made my own headquarters in each of the first two games. With FO1, I would often clean out the raider camp and store stuff there, maybe relocating to the BoS locker rooms later on. In FO2...
