Newest Wasteland 2 update includes a look at the inventory

I gotta disagree with most of you - I like the UI aesthetic. It feels right. I would have preferred a grid-based inventory (complete with different grids for different locations you can store things - backpack, belt, pockets, tactical vest, etc, JA2-style), but the list interface doesn't look...

(Don't) Give me that old time RPG combat

The only change the old Fallout 1/2 combat system should get (aside from extra options like prone/kneeling/whatever) is to make all of the non-PCs act simultaneously. That by itself will drastically improve the combat speed, which is good enough for me.

Lonesome Road coming September 20th + weapon pack DLCs

There's also the fact that the new weapon models, judging by the screenshots, are significantly less detailed and good looking than the weapons in the original game. They look out of place and amateurish. Not cool, Obsidian, not cool at all.

Bethesda claims Interplay could only use the Fallout name

Only in the short-term, and even then only partially. This could really damage Bethesda's position when negotiating with other companies since it's obvious they don't negotiate in good faith. Also, with these arguments the judge (or did they get a jury trial?) might void the entire agreement and...

Bethesda claims Interplay could only use the Fallout name

I think that list pretty strongly indicates that Interplay was intending to use Fallout intellectual property in the MMO and, due to that and the 'good faith' contract laws, I think Interplay has a pretty big leg to stand on. In other news, Bethesda's sure being super-dicks about this. Any...

    Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

Meh - maybe it's just the frankly horrible writing that makes the voiceover sound so not good to me.

    Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

No, no, you got the punctuation and word-order wrong. It's ancient prophecies of bearded dragon warriors. Doesn't it just scream 'FEAR ME'? Also: The voice over in that teaser was terrible. I suppose Beth hasn't learned from its experience with Obsidian that decent voice overs = good:/...

8 Things About Fallout: New Vegas That Would Make BIS proud

Say what? No. The voice acting in F:NV was in no way 'absolutely abysmal'. Look at F3, Oblivion, and Morrowind for abysmal voice acting. F:NV is so much better them in that area it's silly.

    JE Sawyer Formsprings #10

Yeah, if you don't have fast travel markers at the various ranger posts (or don't use fast travel) doing that quest is kinda sucky. I didn't have any 'why are they having me do this?' moment myself, though - probably because I was already at the point where NCR people were commenting on my...

Fallout: New Vegas has bugs. News still at 11.

You need to be online in order to install the game (not to play it, just to install it). You can't even use a crack - the install files are encrypted in special SteamCode that only Steam understands. Lug your computer to a friend's house with an internet connection and install it there, then...

    Fallout: New Vegas first review

I'm pretty sure that's what he intended to imply by saying that he was playing it for review purposes and that he'd respond to this review after the embargo ends, yes.

    Fallout: New Vegas miscellaneous round-up

STALKER Clear Sky is only $9.99 on Steam. It's not that bad, either, though I'm curious why Shadow of Chernobyl is more expensive (SoC is the original, Clear Sky is the prequel, Call of Pripyat is the sequel).

    Talking Heads

He's too old to be T-Ray. His head looks too small/thin for the body, too, and his face too large for his head. It's not just the perspective issue (which makes the picture look really bad, in my opinion) - his proportions simply look extremely fake, like he has a tiny, tiny head on top of a...

Fallout: New Vegas fan notes and shots from PAX

Wait, how does the JHP penetrate at all? It does 10 damage base, so it penetrates only 8 damage. That leaves it unable to penetrate at all. Or does the +60% (damage) bit include penetration? If so, that's pretty bloody stupid. It sounds like the intended effect is to modify penetration and...

    Original FO/FO2 Polymeshes

I asked Interplay about this years ago, way before Fallout 3, maybe eight or nine years ago or more. In the e-mail I got back, they said they didn't have the original models any longer - I think they were lost somehow, though I don't remember. I was specifically looking for the Vertibird model...

The Book of Eli in cinemas now

I thought it was pretty clear the book was a religious one from pretty much everything I've ever heard of the movie, from the trailers to that blurb to the name of the movie itself. Mind, I thought it was about a new gospel to add to the bible or something like that, not the bible itself (never...

Todd Howard at QuakeCon: Half of Fallout 3 got cut

To be fair, Battlezone was an FPS/Strategy game hybrid where you manage your units from a first person perspective. It kicked major, major ass, and a Starcraft version could be very cool, though it should be a spinoff and not in the main line. Also: I wonder if they'll ever release their...

Megamod 2.35 technical issues and suggestions

I just played through this a few days ago, and I found it a bit counter-intuitive. You not only need to choose a specific line that you get pretty much only once, but the logical line to choose at that point will cut you off from having any further conversation with Skynet. If I remember right...
