Fallout 1 mod Installing Fallout + Fallout Fixt on Linux using Wine

So you have an older version, that could make a difference, you could look at WineHQ https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=43 maybe you have luck there, they recommend Wine 1.6. You could also try to install the full DX9 package. I have it running on an i3 3220...

Fallout 1 mod Installing Fallout + Fallout Fixt on Linux using Wine

Moin, I don't know this particular message from a Fallout installation. Looks like Wine has problems with the color depth, you could try http://wiki.winehq.org/256ColorMode In case of misery, you can still install Fallout (and Fixt) on Windows and copy the entire thing to Linux (you might have...

    What was your first RPG?

I don't remember the first computer RPG (I was sorta late, could have been a Gothic) but my very first RPG ever was Das Schwarze Auge (P&P) in round about 1985 and I was 12. The only problem was that in my class there were only three players, so the fun was limited.

Fallout 1 mod Fallout Fixt - next release will be some time in Jan 2020

Moin, you can play now. Over all FO1 is pretty well playable, no need to wait for a year.

Fallout 1 mod Fallout Fixt - next release will be some time in Jan 2020

That's a general problem in the Fallout games as well as many others. Economy usually works just a few levels and then it breaks. In the beginning you have to work to get stuff to sell and there is stuff you can buy and use, later on in the game, you can't either sell stuff, at least not for...

    Talking Heads

Looks more like Farrel to me. I would assume Jo to look a bit younger. Also I think it does not fit with his description: "An average person of average height and average complexion. Nothing out of the ordinary.Jo is the epitome of average." This head has character.

    Will Fallout 3 be remembered?

Depends on the definition of "remembered". I am fairly sure there will be still people playing it. People also said the Oblivion would die after the release of Skyrim. Well, it might smell funny, but it's certainly not dead. People are still playing it, there are still new mods for Oblivion and...

Fallout 1 mod Installing Fallout + Fallout Fixt on Linux using Wine

Well, both is part of Fixt, so you need DX9 to run Fallout + Fixt. If you try to run the game in Direct Draw 7 mode with Sfall, it results in a blackscreen. Changes: - Removed the DX9 part, Fixt should have all there is needed and there is no need to do it in Winetricks. - added explanation for DX9

Fallout 1 mod Installing Fallout + Fallout Fixt on Linux using Wine

I did another test and to my surprise it worked without installing DirectX 9 components in Winetricks this time. Have to take a closer look into it...

Fallout 1 mod Installing Fallout + Fallout Fixt on Linux using Wine

Personally, I think that everybody who is playing DX9 games should will have the DX9 June2010 Redistributable installed (or somewhere on disk). That is also what Winetricks installs, when you chose d3dx9. However, making it an optional component could be a good service. For Wine, I would...

Fallout 1 mod Installing Fallout + Fallout Fixt on Linux using Wine

"You got it, Fren!" - Sulik I have tried without installing DX9 and it didn't work, so I have played with it a bit. Installing DX9 under Wine is no problem, you need to have it for some programs anyway when you are gaming on Wine (so usually the installer is cached) and selecting them in...

Thanks, no, that is not the problem, resizing them is no problem (I have Gimp and XnViewMP) I just need them to appear in a nice way in the guide. The forum attachments work only partially, they are either really large or very small.

Fallout 1 mod Installing Fallout + Fallout Fixt on Linux using Wine

Installing Fallout + Fallout Fixt on Linux using Wine Note: If you are just into installing Fallout on Wine that's a pretty straight forward thing. Any (basic) version of Fallout should work fine. Test system: Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr Wine 1.7.44 Fallout 2.0.0.14 aka. the GOG version...

How can I become more powerful?

I find this time of the game is, actually, the most amusing. You can do nothing, you have nothing and you have to really work to get things. Some (stolen) Spiked Knuckles and a Leather Jacket, that's with the right tactics pretty good for the start in Klamath. Then get (find) a 10 mm, a bit of...

Fallout 1 mod Fallout Fixt - next release will be some time in Jan 2020

That's okay for me. I can also write a guide how to install FO1 + Fixt on Linux, it's fairly easy once you found the pitfalls. I have in the meantime also checked how the bat files behave in the Crahsfix folder and also there they are working, so there is virtually no reason why the change...

Fallout 1 mod Fallout Fixt - next release will be some time in Jan 2020

You are welcome :) EDIT: I also tried the sed.exe included in your installer, that one also works. Now the only options left are the way it is implemented or something completely different. Unfortunately, I didn't manage to repack your installer, I downloaded and installed Inno Setup and it...

Fallout 1 mod Fallout Fixt - next release will be some time in Jan 2020

Good, trying to answer in a bit more depth, after doing some more testing. No, Wine itself doesn't know sed, sed is a Linux/Unix command but it's not accessible through the wine console. See above: no. Actually, Wine should handle the native commands like Windows. I will try to help as much...
