Gothic 3 looks truly amazing. The engine seems to support a lot of shaders, something that Gothic / Gothic 2 engine sorely lacked. Models appear to be very detailed as well. If Gothic 3 feature the same interactive, immersive world and beautiful landscape and urban architecture of the previous sequels, it will surely be one of the finest CRPGs of 2006. I hope they release the international version sooner this time.

Meh, I never really enjoyed Gothic. Yes, the immersion was interesting, but it was too cumbersome and unimmersive for me. That swamp-cult thingie really killed it for me.
Although maybe I'll have to try it again.
 
well, for me, i dont really care about screens. if it looks 'ok' & has good gameplay, i'm happy.

i've stopped caring about screenshots ages ago. they dont reflect games at all.
 
Kind of like movie previews nowadays. You see a handful of awesome scenes, then you watch the movie and realize that those were ALL the awesome scenes...
 
Most of those are pretty old screens, pre E3 of this year. I've seen newer ones on other sites. They had a bad showing at E3 this year, but the game still looks great. Any word on a release date? They looked at least 18 months out at E3 this past May.
 
I have a few of those screens that I've used as backgrounds. This is going to bury the Source engine.

Certainly tops my list for what games I'm looking forward to. It is my opinion that Gothic I and II have been the best RPGs post-2000. So, I have high hopes for Gothic III.

Besides, I want to see what becomes of Lee.

Of course, I'll do my part in supporting incompetent Stateside publishers by importing my copy from the UK.

launch for g3 is 1st quarter of 2006, but i'd be realll sceptic about it. the game is supposed to be twice the size of the G2, plus there are like 20 cities, that's what they say, and no loading time? that's gonna be harsh on our 2003 machines... :cry:

I had given up hope of ever see an English version of the Night of the Raven expansion.
 
Amazing, isn't it? Bizarrely, the English version looks like it will be released in the United States first.
 
This all looks cute and cuddly, but what if I want to start with the first game in the series? How do I get Gothic?
 
The hard way. As in, order it from ebay or amazon and feel like you're getting ripped off big time because it's out of print and costs 4x as much as the sequel. It's a great game and I ended up feeling that it was worth the money, but god damn it old video games are supposed to be cheaper than new ones.
 
I've seen copies of Gothic in multiple local game stores (in the twenty to thirty dollar price range). You might want to check stores in your area.

If you wait, you might get lucky and find a copy as low thirty-five dollars online. Usually the price is a little on the steep side though.
