A cool visual we never saw

So, having just read about stampede in South Korea, I am reminded of a thought I’ve had that I’ve never shared before, inspired by the image above and other images like it, depicting long lines of prospective Vault dwellers entering a Vault. Pre-war advertisements depict this procession as calm and orderly, but I think we all know how frantic and chaotic this would actually look once the Great War started. You can probably see where I’m going with this.

The cool visual I’m referring to would be the sight of piles of human skeletons crowded in front of the entrance of the Vault to greet an emerging Vault Dweller, really driving home the horror experienced by those locked outside of a Vault as well as the death toll caused by the Great War. Imagine your player character wading through a knee-high sea of scorched broken bones, stretching on for hundreds of yards.

So, yeah, that’s it, just wanted to share this.

I was just thinking exactly the same thing. How was the migration to the vault executed? How did the residents get the signal? When would the government warn the US citizens of an impending nuclear strike?

Each Vault could take 1000 residents. So that's quite the many.

According to the Van Buren tech demo there were sirens that alerted people, though some thought it was a false alarm. At least that’s what I remember, maybe I’m wrong.

Then people most have lived in the vicinity. Like how Fallout 4 depicts things:

I on the other hand have always thought about it like people going to the vaults in good time before the bombs drops but in that case they must be aware that the bombs will come. So it's more likely that people will go there when the sirens warns them but then things will be rushed and everyone will be in a panic. Also there were just 122 Vault Tech Vaults with 1000 residents each so that's just 122k Americans. Most will be nuked. To avoid panic they would probably have to get the assigned residents there in good time before the bombs so that they can seal the doors before the panic stricken crowd tries to get in.
