Fantastic!

Thank you, phomax. You know, I can't be indifferent to a topic involving pioneers. It's a part of our common History.

In Russia we call those Cultural Revolution pioneers "hun-vei-bin". I think it means "red guard". Am I correct?

I was going to write something about those children but it's impossible NOT to make it sound all perverted.

"hun-vei-bin" sounds like "hong wei bing" in Chinese, so I guess it's "red guard"
but I think red guards are all adult, as for these children pioneers, are they called the " little red guard " ? or "red little guard"? I don't know ...

how do you sign up for that kind of thing? I guess you're more or less thrown into it or what?

I was a pioneer. In fact mine was the last generation to be pioneers. Good times.

Oh!! You've never said that before! In a way, I envy you. Born in the USSR, but grown up in Russia, I sometimes feel so defective, inferior...

Exactly! I didn't know how to spell it in English. It may sound surprising, but there were no additions like "little" in the name. Just "red guards" and that's all. Maybe, to show their weight, importance.

And once again, wonderful picture!

it reminds me of the time when i was a pioneer.........

always got lots of homework to do. BAD times................

When you reach a certain age you are allowed to start serving the motherland, yes.

Woah... serving the motherland you say? I tried to fail the army try-outs but silly enough got too high scores to walk away . The summer before my duty I managed to fake a damaged spinal cord and got my self a free ticket out of hell.

(Serving in the army is something "they" want you to do in my country.. most people just goes with it becouse they havent got anything better to do. This has nothing to do with pioneers I guess. "serving the motherland" just brought the memories back)

Yeah, I'll be serving the motherland again after I finish school. I could probably dodge it like most pussies these days do and do civil service, but they don't let you shoot assault rifles when you work in a library... :freak:

Eheh. We have compulsory military service here as well. But, hey, as they say.

Hell no, I won't go!

hehehe I was going to get the basic rifle training, but the rest of the time I would have to run around with all the "kitchen" stuff plus basic packings = not so roxxors... you know, Amphibious army chef. I actually thought it would be good to get the chef courses (a lot of people actually get pretty good jobs from that) and I would be the guy everyone was nice too, but a year.. bah a YEAR with mud, snow, water and push ups... uehh
