After Reset's kickstarter seems to have taken off as they've both reached and passed their funding goal with another 30 days to go. Looks like things are shaping up for another post-apocalyptic RPG.

From their Kickstarter update:
"My dear friends,
Today we’ve crossed the Rubicon in the history of After Reset. We’ve funded and it took us only 10 days to achieve it. And when I say ‘we’ I imply every one of YOU even more than myself, or anyone else Black Cloud Studios. Rephrasing my namesake: “We must always remember that modern gamers represent a great nation today not because of what developers did for gamers but because of what gamers did for themselves and for one another.”

I truly regard After Reset as a proof that any… really any mere gamer, like myself, can take it upon themselves to stop moaning on forums and establish your own serious development team to build the game of their dreams. It won’t be easy. It will probably be much harder than your pervious life. But if you follow your heart, you will find a way.

Once again, congratulations my friends!"

As a second part of the Kickstarter update, they've also updated their FAQ which is worth a read.

"As a gamer, I feel that true immersion into the story and setting begins with the intro."

Um, sure... uh... wait. What? Yes, by definition: everything begins with the intro. Five minutes later, and for the rest of the hundreds of hours you are playing, good writing is the key. Of course, if all you're trying to do is get as much Early Access money as possible, a flashy movie could be very helpful. At least the goals are clearly spelled out.

I like the general concept, but nothing on the kickstarter page makes me feel like I should, you know, spend money on it. The video is a slow-paced slide show of the backstory; if this is their idea of how to tell a story, I'm already a bit worried. Is there a good development team with relevant industry experience? No idea!

And what if it does turn out to be a truly awesome...prologue? I've never bought an episode of an episodically-released game that actually had its final episode released.

I Hope I'm wrong.

I'll have to give this one some thought, but I may donate.

I'm sure the developer is feeling proud to put his name on it, but when your name is Richard Nixon maybe you shouldn't.

I've heard about his efforts before and they've always been a bit "grandeur" imho. I do hope he succeeds building a game but there are a lot of projects out there and I am not sure this one deserves my money.

I browsed the kickstarter page and the game website but couldn't find anything about the developers of this project.

The logo of their studio is obviously crying out Black Isle, but is anyone on that team ever worked on games of that era? Or any RPG at all?

Np, mate. We develop this game by our taste. Primarily to enjoy it by yourself and our followers. So we won't push you or convince you to spend your own money for. Your beliefs, your dreams, your point of view. We respect that.

Diospyros , last 4 month I've slept 4h/day, working on the game 18h/day. I've put my life into it. Please, forgive me such small feature :)

That is up to you, man. I reckon, we can survive that.
