Are you running XP 64 bit?

With all the headaches people have been having with 64bit drivers for XP, I never found it worth my while to move to 64bit. Performance boost is rather minor imho.

I have a 64bit XP machine and a 64 bit Ultimate machine. I have 0 driver or hardware compatibility issues. :)
 
got some gamer friends running 64bit XPs... they never complained about anything (except not having the hardware to run fancy DX10 games).
 
This is for the wife, no driver issues, but 64bit was having some issues with software she wanted to run, so back to 32.

a while ago i was having problems, but that was not due to microsoft, that was from shitty no-name manufacturers

and i also had some software incompatabilities, but those were solved over a year ago

i havent had a problem with it that was due to any problems with the OS itself
 
I'm running the Winows 7 beta build 7000 64 bit (since I have a quadcore), and no anti-virus (shielded by hub+router). I can tell you, it's amazing. It's like Vista without the Sudden infant death syndrome. I hear they're not giving out the beta anymore, though. Going to buy this OS as soon as it hits stores, I love it.

Are you running it on your main machine? Have you encountered any software/driver issues?
 
Yes, a few, especially with specialized programs such as Adobe Illustrator and Autodesk software (but I'm guessing this is Vista in general, since Win 7 is built on that OS). But for a beta it runs amazingly well. I recently installed the 32 bit beta on my laptop (a Asus EEE PC 1000H) and it runs great there too. The other day I had some network card issues but that went away. I'm telling you, if the final product addresses the few glitches in the beta, it might just be the best OS I've ever used.
 
I just installed the 64bit version onto a VMware image, and I must say, I'm very impressed.

You got it running on your 1000? I've got one as well. What did you have to do in regards to the drivers? Did they all work out of the box, or did you have to do some manipulation?
 
Well some things worked out of the box, as Windows 7 is much more hardware friendly than XP. There were some features, like the overclocking software, and bluetooth controller, that were'nt there though. The problem is, all those drivers are for XP. Some of them work, but I haven't tried all of them yet, others might not work so well. The Asus N10J has been released though, basically a 1000H with gaming capabilities (better video card), and it ships with Vista, so some of those drivers would probably work. I just installed it like 2 days ago, so I haven't really checked everything. But both Google Chrome and Open Office work great. Check out:

If you have Windows 7 on both your computers, try sharing them on a home network. It now runs like a charm! It never worked with XP. Sharing printers and such is only a matter of seconds. Also, I love the new windows key+TAB feature. It pretty much runs Alt+TAB into the ground.
 
I just installed, so I'll check it out further.

I'm running an Active Directory domain, so sharing isn't being used, since everything I share is on my server.

you mean new hardware is better supported by a new OS than by an old OS that was already out before the hardware was developed?
