First time out of the vault
10 bucks for 3-4 hours of mediocore shooting sequences with minimal interesting lore but with the reward of some physically appealing costumes. Robot creation cool though you gotta admit.

Opinions?

It is essentially a paid mod with a 3 hour "story" that only exacerbates Fallout 4's major problem with the dialogue wheel and voiced protagonist with terrible acting.

But I'm sure it will be received well by non-Fallout fans, because Fallout 4 was made for non-Fallout fans. So many posts raving about Fallout 4 begin with "I never liked Fallout but LOVE Fallout 4!"

Well since I bought the Season Pass back before the game came out I'm stuck with all these DLCs. Guess I'll give them a try and put my opinion here.

First Impression: The quest just starts up immediately. No build up or anything. You just load a save and boom, there it is. At least Dragonborn had some crazy cultists come after you before you could start the DLC.

Second Impression: Just met Ada, the one who instigates the quest. Even though she's literally a cobble-together of what looks like a Protectron and whatever kind of robot PAM is, she seems to have full AI. She calls her owners her family and registers their deaths with "pain and anger". So yeah, a literal trash heap of a robot has sentient AI.

For the record, I'll be doing this fully in the Silver Shroud costume just to see if I can get some special interactions.

Honestly, the $10 that this DLC costs would've been better spent on a donation to TheTalkyToaster for all the work he's done. It was his mod that forms the core of this DLC.
To be fair Talkies is just spawning in robots using the creation system, This is a fully fledged modding system. Which you got to admit is cool, I think I heard Avellone talking about something like this in an interview.

Yeah "story" is a stretch, It's some what of a cliche now. "Z is distressed. Z has been targeted by X. Find X. Kill way to X. Kill or talk down X"

-It's 3 hours top.

-Crafting Mechanic is rich and open for experimenting.

-Story is weak(shocked).

-New lore on Robobrains is good and actually it confirms Fallout bible mostly.

-Last dungeon in fun and has interesting reads here and there (Nothing on par with Maxson diaries or The Survivor's diary though).

-New power armor looks kinda meh and it's effects are lame.

-Robots can be used as settler so they save player from suffering called "settlers". With their names and utterly unique look they're much less robot than those generic NPCs.

-New weapons are meh and too silly for my taste.

-Due to how short the actual quest and amount of NPC interaction; i wouldn't call it worth 10$. Though it's not robbery either.

Conclusion; worse(much worse) than all F:NV DLCs, better than Fallout 3 DLCs except The Pitt and Point Lookout. Problem lies with the fact that it adds more to crafting and settlement building. Robot building mechanic is rich and fun but for whose expectations lies with story and new experiences, this DLC offers almost nothing.

Don't worry guys, the season pass is now $50 so you can basically pay for 2 copies of Fallout 4 in case Bethesda hasn't insulted your intelligence enough with how stupid their writing is in the base game.

Took me less than two hours, but I also didn't linger on the terminal entries and stuff like that. Story is barely existant, but the robot customisation seems like it's quite a lot.
New weapons and armour seem kinda meh, but better than nothing.

I'm still confused about the price raising, is it still gunna be the 3 or 4 dlc or are they doing double the dlc now?

It's really not a lot after messing around with it for a few hours. Basically their is hierarchy so you can have the ultimate objective bot, So it's best to work towards that.

This is the kind of thing you would expect from a Borderlands DLC: lots of weapon customization, zero story.

Whoever made Fallout 4 seems to have forgotten what kind of game it is.

Okay, I will admit, I just got to the Mechanist dressed as the Silver Shroud, and I'll admit the conversation while in costume is chuckle-worthy. It's about the only decent part of this whole thing though. A lot of robot customization is locked behind meaningless perks. I still don't understand why the Armorer perk is under Strength. I just used the console to unlock all the building perks as I don't have time to level up more in this asinine game.

I'll also admit there are a lot of robot customization options. I'm having a little fun with it anyway.

Already found pictures of people making fisto.

Its over. We have anchieved perfection! Nothing else in this dlc matters!

that's apply with logic of medieval blacksmith mostly being a muscular and heavy build body. in the absence of powerhammer or other powertool, i think it make sense

If you didn't literally cry when you saw the Mechanist, you have no heart, or a brain apparently as the first time you see the Kid in the Fridge is easily one of the greatest moments in literary history.
