First time out of the vault
I'm mostly a lurker here, but I've got an idea that might bring in some interesting opinions. List some games that you feel have the best/your favorite of something. This something could be anything from best dialogue to something far more particular like best clown character. Also, give a description for your choice. I'll start with a few:
Best shotgun: Metal Slug series
Because it only shoots about three feet in front of your character (so you have to get close), the blast/spread is bigger than the average enemy is tall or wide, and it disintegrates human foes into a mist of blood and flesh leaving only a few clattering bones behind.
Runner-up: Resident Evil series
Because you've been running from zombies with a pistol that hardly fazes them, and then you find the shotgun which knocks whole packs of them to the ground.
Best sense of mystery: Star Con 2
Because every new alien race that you discover is fascinating, idiosynscratic, and well written. Every new solar system is a joy to explore for rare minerals. There is that one planet that turns your away team insane and slowly kills one of the members with cuts and scratches that appear without explanation. And its great when you discover the alternate dimension that lets you travesre the galaxy faster.
Runner-up: Blade Runner
Because every location is beautiful and atmospheric and relevant to the plot which twists and turns in unexpected ways. Because the story and characters change each playthrough, and even small gameplay choices can have huge impacts on how things turn out.
