Bethesda Softworks has announced a dedicated conference at this year's E3 on June 14, according to EuroGamer. That's a first for Bethesda, who are generally pretty reluctant to share any details with the press.

The announcement of a conference at one of the biggest yearly game press events in the world isn't exactly world-breaking news, except for one thing: we've seen rumor upon rumor that Bethesda has been working on Fallout 4 for quite some time now. And that dedicated Bethesda conference would be a very logical place to announce the next installment in the franchise.

I'd rather have them announce Dishonored 2 than Fallout 4.

Unless, of course, Obsidian are the ones making Fallout 4.

Fallout 4 by Obsidian would be kick ass. Though, we have no clue how much say Bethesda would have in their project though.

Pete Hines said that E3 is not a good place to announce anything. It seems he doesn't have as much say in these matters as I thought.

I agree completely, although I still have a little, little hope that Beth has learned something from Obsidian and I really doubt that Obsidian are making Fallout 4, but there were rumors about new TES installment going, which would keep Beth busy, so who knows... I also wouldn't mind new Doom.

The smartest thing Bethesda could do is have Obsidian produce Fallout 4 while the core Bethesda team works on the next Elder Scrolls. Don't get me wrong, I have a lot of problems with the Elder Scrolls but between the two games they are better at creating that world than the Fallout one. Obsidian on the other hand gets what made Fallout special and did the best they could given their restrictions. Also, from a business perspective they could crank out more Fallout and Elder Scrolls games faster if they had dedicated teams for both games. Sure, it could be argued that maybe one or neither of these IP's needs to continue, but there is far too much money to be made to even think that would happen.

Obsidian handling Fallout 4 would be good, especially now that Tim Cain is on the team, imagine it, after some many years he gets to make a game of the franchise he created.

I doubt Bethesda will work with Obsidian again. Obsidian hasn't made any direct negative remarks towards Bethesda, but after all the comments from various sides for being screwed over for royalties and getting in league with Brian Fargo, who himself was very vocal and critical of Bethesda's treatment of Obsidian, I don't know how arm-opening Bethesda would be. Then again, this is all about money, and FNV sold better than FO3, but Beth's core audience is the audience which prefers FO3 over FNV.
However, these are all some simple assumptions from a layman's perspective, not an in-depth analysis. Business is business, and in truth, I don't know how Beth operates.

I doubt Obsidian will make Fallout 4 because like Bethesda, they have another game to develop.

You use though twice. Does that count as English evolution or something?

I know it's much to ask for Obsidian to do this one again, but hey, the trailer for Persona 5 has left me in quite a good mood.

Remember Laocoon, friends, and hear his words of wisdom!
„A deadly fraud is this," he said, „devised by the Bethesdean chiefs!"

From what i read, Feargus seems in good terms with big publishers, but how little we know...

Bethesda has sold the rights to the Fallout series to EA Games
please no

All hail the announcement of Fallout : Brotherhood of Steel 2 for Android devices.
If Beth tries to revive Fallout trademark, this is very likely, probably something similiar to Deus Ex will happen

How would you guys feel if Bethesda developed Fallout 4 but they hired Obsidian writers to work on the story like what they did with wasteland 2?

Yeah. I don't think Fo3's gameworld was that great. Stuff like the unlooted supermarked, etc. comes to mind the second I am thinking about it. It's not just the story that sucks, it's also the theme-park setup of the game world, imo.
