Bethesda could literally say "our consumers are blind idiots" and fanboys will still defend them

First time out of the vault
I'm sorry if this is the wrong thread to post but I feel like this concerns Fallout. With the addition of paid mods, and some other stuff like a mod developer being banned from Bethesdas website for trying to help . I thought okay can we all agree that Bethesda is acting greedy and damaging the fallout brand. And sure enough some people are still defending like this mind boggling to me. Even some the biggest fanboys criticize stuff at a certain point. People who loved Halo criticized Bungie and destiny. People cut Bethesda slack on Fallout 3 which is somewhat understandable and then somehow cut them slack with Fallout 4 which is an embarrassment to the franchise. And those same people say this website is toxic or NV fanboys are bad. Todd Howard could go on record and say "We here at Bethesda support Hitler and Nazis" and fanboys will be like "Well Hitler did rejuvenate Germany's economy lets see what Todd means before jumping to conclusions". You just can win with these people /rant over

Tl;dr Bethesda's fanboys are masters of cognitive dissonance/mental gymnastics

"This website isn't toxic! Anyone who claims otherwise is basically a Nazi apologist!"

@topgun1572 I have a great deal of experience on how "evil" corporate game companies work.

In the case of Bethesda they have taken a game that had basic GURPS/dnd game mechanics and switched them out with a skinner box and FPS elements. The purpose of this is to specifically take a RPG, and attempt to make it still seem like a RPG for the original fans but focus primarily on the new players with a FPS.

This is actually a modern trend because developing an actual RPG, and its radiant requirements are a lot of wasted work if only the RPG players purchase the game. However what a lot of game developers are doing these days are trying to find ways to merge different genres together to enlarge their player base.

While this will interest the simple minded skinner box grinding players, this of course will only insult actual RPG players as they require a great deal more quality and effort for their games.

The problem in this case is that the market shows a very large portion of the population are more interested in simple game mechanics and immediate gratification, vs actually using creative thinking skills and strategy.

In this case the developers are not actually to blame, its the individuals purchasing the games that are placing emphasis on what games are popular. To illicit a change in these trends RPG players must and I urge all RPG players to do so, seek out and purchase true RPG games from other developers. Believe me when I say that if a good portion of Bethesda, EA, Valve, or any developer's fans begin to flock towards games that require critical thinking skills, creativity, strategy, and RPG elements the demographics will change greatly.

However let us be realistic for a moment, the well for RPG games are becoming rather small to draw from. But sometimes you got to buy some dirt to pot a plant.

Does this dead horse have enough bones left so it still make noise when we beat it ?

We've reached a point in gaming where this.

Is literally becoming reality.

In effect Fallout itself is kind of a dead horse. There's been some Dr. Frankenstein shit going on with it for few years, but that's all.

So it doesn't really matter what of it people talk about.

Eyup... ;(

Fallout is dead, it ain't coming back. Not from an AAA dev like Bethesda in any case.

Once a franchise is owned by cunts, it dies.

Not saying that I don't agree with your general point, but comparing people to Nazis generally isn't something you should do in your opening argument unless they're actually running around sieg heiling.
